Today was a good flying day here in Southeast Oklahoma.
Temp was in the high 60's. Wind was light from the South. Flew 4 batteries in my T-28.

Same for us, all weekend long. I've lost count of how many batts I flew on the delta. Found out the hard way I don't have enough bracing in the Morback, but even that one I didn't crash, so I still have an airframe to work with.

Well i had fresh snow on the ground so i took the SF(snowflyer) out this morning for some fun on the snow. Tooled around on the snow a bit and then took off and flew nice and slow inside the treeline for a bit then did a T&G and flew another circuit then landed and tooled a bit more.
Brought the SF in the house and took the Infineon Bipe out for some circuits and made a nice soft landing in the snow. Very cold out there so that's it for today. Crash |

I have 3 batteries ready heading out into the cold for 3 flights, but it is chilly. I think at 24 degrees 3 flights, and done will be a good thing wind is 0 to 6 mph. Ah some stick time.

Just checked the weather, high of 20, currently 16. Didn't look like much wind.
Were gonna see if a slow stick bipe crashes as well with aleroins on the top wing as it does without .Honestly, I've been waiting for the mail, only to remember that is martin luther king day. I was getting the plane all ready for some new servo's and motor, and needed the other two servo's for mock up on the bottom wing. This would also require a switchmode esc, and if I add a jst tap, I'm going to have a hard time not hooking up lights too. This is really me trying to quit while I'm ahead. |

Well, the stock aleroin cut outs is definately not enough for one wing of a bipe. Flew for about 30minutes total without any serious crashes. I had a moment of dumb thumbs forgetting to pull rudder out in a turn, got caught in a gust of wind and ended up inverted 20 feet off of the the ground. Alerions weren't enought to roll it out, so I put full throttle and elevator in it, intending to try to outside loop it. Managed the prettiest inverted landing on the top wing you ever saw. I was panicking so bad I forgot to cut the throttle and the prop did get a couple of nicks in it.
Flipped it back over without even any cosmetic damage, did a circuit and replaced the prop after landing. Went back up for another 15 minutes or so after. The only real added benifit I could see with the flat wings and one set of aleroins is that I could do cordinated turns. The roll and turning rate was rediculously slow, often needing quite a bit of rudder to make any turn.I'm tempted to pull the servo's out and just tape it back up. When my order come in, I might add them to the bottom wing too to see if it helps any, but so far I am really unimpressed. Not even enough input to stop a 1/2 throttle torque roll. The biplane has so much lift that it requires full throttle to do an outside loop on a full battery. Take off speed is probably 5mph. Hoping this 450w motor I have coming will give me a bit more power for climbs and make it a bit more fun to fly again. I might see if I can increase the throws on the aleroins to improve performance. Also been thinking about mixing in rudder, but we will see. I plan to add the larger motor, possibly another battery in parellel to increase flight times and gain some air speed, ad some way beefier landing gear to try to stop dragging the bottom wing and maybe do another set on the bottom wing. But that would put 6 servo's on this thing, and I would probably have to add a bec to be safe. Maybe with this setup it will make a good av or night flier. Maybe both. |

Quads will handle loads of wind, finally did lose one over 40 MPH.
Later week temps to rebound over 20 deg, winds lately as well. Dang new Archer to arrive today, high temp 10 degrees, ice on the wings. |

Yep it's cold.
Here's a clip earlier in the year things much warmer but 30 MPH gusts, see trees and shrubs bend incornors almost able to fly. Do feel less cold now reviewing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eqBsu...e_gdata_player |

Temp got up to almost 80 degrees at our field in sunny N. San Diego county yesterday. Pretty windy when we got there at around 8 am. It died down to 1-3 mph at 10 am and then picked up to around 8 mph by 1 pm. Just like the forecast said.

Yesterday snow just starting, light breeze but new plane arrival a must fly. The new Parzone Archer, compact docile low wing. Easy take off in our side street, wanted to climb, low throttles great flybys, landing refused to lose altitude, next try brought down tree level on the downhill turn, throttle off check its deadstick, dropped nose for speed, came in like a champ, puff of breeze nosed up before touchdown, kept things level, slight bounce but otherwise landing on the money. Survived the maiden. Handling great on this new entry.
Yet to have a flight clip, but close look at this one, likely to be popular. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5YW-d...e_gdata_player Aha, tho not often inframe managed a near zeo degree flight early before daybreak, winds down abit, uploading now will post in a few minutes, hands still frozen! |

Took a chance and went up to the field this afternoon. Temp was about 20 f, sun was out, and the weather report said the wind was averaging 8 mph. In fact, it was pretty much dead calm for the first 45 minutes or so I was there. Had a good time practicing aerobatic stuff and touch-and-go landings
. Then the wind started to come up a bit, my fingers and toes started complaining, so I left. All in all a good outing (and unexpected, too!). Nobody else had been there since the last snow (no footprints)... wimps

I usually use Weather Underground for my weather but lately I've grown enamored of this lovely weather site.

I have a baseball field/park 2 blocks away that I can rush out to if I get my batteries charged up ahead of time.
Been out a number of times, mostly with three planes, since my last post. Between mild and chilly or too breezy. Been out once today and going out after this post. I go out come back make repairs and wait to go out again. Brian |

I know what you mean gramps. But why is it that every time I wait and wait for a package of goodies to come in the mail they show up when I go out and I have to wait to go to the post office to pick it up, that wasn't showing where it was in tracking. I had a bunch of stuff on order from hobbyking, so I could work on some new planes. |
