That's a shame, it seemed to be flying like it was on rails prior to deploying the speed brake. I guess the morale of the story is to test out stuff like spoilers, flaps, brakes etc at a safe altitude

Yep. I was thinking that exact thought as foam was exploding in the distance. I really thought the speed brake would much less dramatic than it was. Good news is that the "Hun" is almost back together.

Sorry to see that. Such a good looking plane, too.

Yep, hindsight is a wonderful gift The effect of the brake was very dramatic. I wonder if the turbulence from the brake might have 'masked' the tail making the elevator inefective? Or maybe the nose down pitch moment caused by the low slung drag brake did it?.

Good to hear that it's almost fixed.

Yes. All good points. I'll try the speed brake again this weekend at a safe altitude and let you know.

While it looked cool working at a scale looking speed, you may want to make it work faster in case you have to get it put away quick!

Thanks to all for the comments on my build. Sorry to see the crash, but as it has already been said, test functions like flaps and speed brakes at a good altitude.

My speed brake is further back and the shape is exact scale, I can't really tell how Newpilot's is shaped from that angle shot. I will say that my speed brake has no effect on the trim when fully deployed, so something is different with the shape, deflection and location or all of the above is my guess.

Here is a an up to date video of mine, changed out the struts and wheels for the Freewing SU-35 struts and wheels, much better!

Thought I would update this thread with good links to video's and add some up to date pictures.

I am still flying my F-100F, not a scratch on her and around 200 flights! I need to get a trailer now to haul these big foamies around!

Thanks for sharing! A beautiful plane. Unfortunately the video link says it's blocked in my country due to having content from a couple of things. Strange since we're in the same country. Maybe it's my smartphone. I'll try it on my pc.

Thanks, that is strange, I know any video with any part of a song is blocked in Germany because of a lawsuit that had dragged on for years. The copyright holder is monitoring my video but has not asked that I take it down. As long as you only use portions of a recording and it has sound over it, I have not had a problem.

Just watched on my PC and it was fine. So I tried on my phone again, looking in the 'history' on the YouTube app, and it says 'The content owner has not made this video available on mobile'.

Anyway, a nice video. Great sound from the fan! Icing on the cake, as you did an awesome job on the rest of the plane as well.

I almost got a Flyfly F-100 as a gift earlier this year. Fortunately, they asked first, as I honestly don't think it will fit in my car, even with the wings removed. Otherwise, I'd have one. Love those century series jets!
