I just ordered a Turnigy steering servo for my car. Shipping was 2.99. Wonder how long it will take to get here lol. My next race is Friday, so I will probably be rebuilding that crap Traxxas servo a couple times before that Turnigy gets here.

This is my first order from HK.

If they are shipping it for 2.99 from China that seems decent lol.

Default HK shipping

I know from Hong Kong my 1st order took around a month. My second order was from the US warehouse I live in Georgia & I had my order in 3 days. Don't place an order with anything that shows being out of stock. If you place an order for instock items & an out of stock item they will hold your order till the out of stock item is back in stock. It can delay an order for months. So far the things I have bought have been well worth it and works great.

Still waiting on a FrSky RX I ordered a week and a half ago, coming from Singapore. Was worth it at $20 shipped, and I didn't need it right away. Cheapest I could find in the US was @$25-30 shipped. Well worth the wait for $5 or $10off.

Default Warning!! Beware of this scamming company.

NO IT IS DEFINITIVELY NOT SAVE TO ORDER FROM LEADERSHOBBY

Don't order from leaderhobby. They won't refund you when they cannot deliver their items. You only get meaningless e-mails. I'm now waiting for much more than two week for refunding and reminded them at least every 2nd day. Also don't order from dealmetic.com because this is the same people. If you are interested in more details let me know.

They are out of business. I think they got hacked - check the prices.

I would not order anything with them...

Got my servo from HK a few days ago. Actually pretty happy with it.

Not sure that I'd ever buy an aircraft from them though.

I've purchased quite a bit of stuff from HK. Generally, the products were OK until I bought an HK 30A power supply. It failed after only 2 uses. Yes, that can happen to the best of any brand, so I didn't flip out.

I requested an RMA and received it a few days later. I shipped the defective power supply as per their instructions (which required shipping tracking). Well, I waited a full week after HK signed for the returned PS and nothing. So I made another inquiry and after another few days they said they couldn't find it. So I sent them the UPS tracking number and they somehow magically located the PS unit.

They gave credit for just the power supply - no credit for shipping. I had requested that they simply ship me a new replacement unit, but no, had to be credit. So I ordered another PS of the same brand and model. This of course incurred another shipping charge. After I received the new unit I made more inquires about why I had to pay for the shipping BOTH WAYS! HK adamantly refused to reimburse me for the freight on THEIR DEFECTIVE PRODUCT!

I don't do business with them anymore. You might do fine with their products................ as long as you don't have to return one.

Bought a Spectre 1800 1.8m glider from Hobby King about 9 months ago. For various I didn't get around to building it until recently and have noticed numerous manufacturing problems.

I mean serious issues such as screws getting jammed, block servo wire sleeves. I wrote to Hobby King support and they were quick to respond. They asked for photos which I sent of the problem areas. It was all good until they told me the photo would not suffice and I had to send the plane in for a product specialist to examine and determine if a replacement/refund could be given. It took more than 10 days and they only replied after I asked for an update.

I'm thinking its going to cost me serious money to send this back to where it came from and not sure if it's worth it.

What do you guys think? And I will never buy from HK again.

As mentioned before, don't order anything that's on back order. After two weeks, they give you the option to cancel the order, but you don't get the postage refunded!I just found this out the hard way, cost me $38 post for $8 worth of stuff.
I still buy stuff from HK though, because it's the only way i can afford to stay in the hobby.

I've ordered many small electrical items, some servos, lipos, ESC and have yet to test those. This week is annual garbage collection.

I think I will just leave the glider outside. I'm sure someone will be able to do something with it.

Hmm.. 'screws getting jammed' really doesn't sound like a very serious issue. It sounds more like you cross threaded the screw? As for 'block servo wire sleeves' I'm not sure what you mean?

As a general comment: If you buy very cheap models from HK or any other supplier you will almost always come across a few 'imperfections' that you need to sort out during the assembly. This is the price of cheapness, if you buy cheap you have to accept it.
If you want models that are almost perfect and that come with excellent customer service to sort out the little issues that do occasionally slip through the net, then you need to pay top dollar prices.

I have been a HK customer for many years. I started with them back around 2006 or so and have spent a lot of money with them. They used to be called something else back than. In general I have had decent luck with them until recently. I bought 18 of their in-house brand 4.3g servos. The servos are real power houses for their tiny size but they have a big problem. 11 out of the 18 servos have the upper case cracked. The gears bind and obviously this is not a good thing. I have been give tee run-around from them bur no satisfactory response. At this point I am holding all my further orders till I get a satisfactory resolution. All I asked for was 11 replacement upper cases so i can do the repairs myself. Postage to return them would negate the cost of most of the order. The only thing I can say is "buyer -be -ware" As mentioned before, in general their products are decant but all it takes is one bad order to place a bad taste in your mouth. An order like this can negate the savings from the past.

Bummer on the cracked servos. HK can be a PITA when there's a problem. But like Jet mentioned, I've learned to set my expectations low when buying on the cheap. I've also learned to set my expectations low on delivery, especially from the International site. Still though, a cracked servo case in unacceptable. If you paid via Paypal , you could file a Paypal dispute. I found it easiest to just get on the chat line with them. I just hang out until someone responds. Have pics ready. I have my story pre-written so I can cut and paste.

All in all, I must say I've got some really good deals from HK and have found things not available anywhere else. I just don't expect much in terms of CS. In the US, Motion, Headsuprc, Value Hobby, EPBuddy and Grayson and even Hobbypartz(Nitro) have been my go to reliable on-line hobby shops that I can always count on. Been having decent luck on ebay as of late for small , hard to find odds and ends.

Stay on them and good luck !

I have had a problem only once before when an order just was never shipped and I had to fight to prove that I paid for it. It was paid for by credit card at the time. that was back in around 2007 or so. These servos are fantastic when they are good. They are the perfect thing for thin wings on in-wing installation. I am planing on building these into the wing never to remove on small 1:12 scale models. These servos are quite a bit stronger then the 5g competition servos. I have since than ordered some of the identical servos labeled by Tower Pro from eBay. and they are about 33% less expensive than even HobbyKing. But that was only about two weeks ago and they are also coming on the "slow boat from China". I have also found an identical size "digital" servo made by eMax which I ordered 10 of from another distributor just last week. I am anxious to test them out. I bought some Emax ES08DE servos that are "the bomb" all I can say is WOW about those. They are a bit smaller than the common 9g servo (same mounting footprint) and have about 26oz of thrust @ 5V. That is TESTED with a push-pull gauge. That is what I used to get from full size hi-torque servos in the old days but in a tiny package. I ordered 10 more of these ES08DE servos and am extremely anxious to try out the ES9051 servos when I get them.

?? Which one did you actually get ? The one I talked about is the Lanyu and plenty vids as well as mine on YT showing this of ... Alishanmao for example ..

As I understand it you got the 'other' one - the HIGHER priced one !

Mines about 2 yr old and still good ...

I feel upset now that as I understand it - you clicked to buy not realising it was a different one to model I reviewed .. so I feel a bit responsible.

What's wrong with it ?
