Can you identify this motor? Please !

This motor flew off my foamy today. - Can't find it in the field.

It looks like the guy I purchased it from had a mount from the pics or maybe he just glued it in.

In any case, can someone familiar with HK engines give me an idea of what motor it is? Also if anyway to tell of ESC size..? The sticker is off the esc.

If you tell us what size and weight the plane is and what prop and battery it uses we can probably come up with something. From the picture it could be anything.

I'm almost certain it's a Suppo, but I can't read the numbers on the can from that picture. It's probably a Suppo 2208 or something around that size.

I generally have good experience from Suppo motors. They are simple in their construction and work well. My only complaint is that the prop shafts are a bit soft and tend to bend on prop strikes and crashes.

The ESC is almost certainly a Suppo too. If the motor is what I think it is, it should be around 20-30A. Just as their motors, Suppo ESCs are pretty solid. They don't have a ton of programming options, but for a basic application like a profile foamie, they're an excellent low-price alternative.

So, I have this other motor, it says 2820-09 and its purple, it is swinging a 10X5 prop. I don't really like the plane currently is in so I'm thinking of swapping it.

It says KV 850 RPM, I have 2 1300 MAH batteries - one is 20C and the other is 30C.

Is this motor a step down from the motor I had? The plane ran just ok on the 20C but on the 30C, it was damn fast, I'd say 50-60.

It plugs into the existing ESC and I think it should be able to handle this motor just fine.

I also have a 40 ESC and a new EMAX motor BL2820/07 Prop 11"-12" - would it work?

I imagine I Could only run it 1/4 speed or I'd rip the wings off? If it would work, I would do it, its just sitting here doing nothing

Weight, a BIG factor is weight. If it weighs a noticeable lot more or less you'll need to make adjustments to the CG. On a small flat foamy THAT could make a difference in how it flies.

Well its a pretty big motor, really designed to hop up a parkzone T28 or Extra 300.

Do you think it will go good with that purple motor?

Now this is the big Emax motor I was considering.....

Is this Emax motor too big?

That motor looks like the Suppo 2212 series. It looks like it was swinging a slowflyer prop, so it's probably the 2212-13 (1100 Kv) or -15 (1000 Kv). Of these two the -13 is the better performer, and will pull about 18 amps with an APC 9x4.7 prop.

An 850 Kv motor will turn more slowly using the same battery, so it will need (and can handle) a bigger prop. You'll need to be careful not to overload your ESC though.

Your bigger motor and bigger ESC should do OK, but the plane will be heavier. So it may be faster, and have better vertical performance, but may not be as much fun to fly in other respects. Try it and see - if you don't like it, get a new motor like the original - they're only about $16 from BP or Grayson hobbies.

The kv rating will also give you less power with the same sized prop.

I like heads up because you can find 10 motors with similar ratings and wattage, and they give you all specs for weight and size, as well as power and thrust. You can get 90%+ of what you need off of that alone.
