My Flyzone SE-5 was getting very high time when I installed the battery and the power plug burned up. I cut it off and tried to find a replacement, none available. Almost had a battery fire and I burned my left index digging that battery out. There appeared to be escapement damage as the elevators snapped full down and the engine was revving. Talked to Hobbico and the rep assured me the plane would be made good.
When they saw the plane Hobbico said no way were they going to honor this as a warranty replacement, because there was repaired damage. The plane had logged 187 flights and the lower wing had been repaired (neatly, and with matching paint pointed up) several times. I had considered buying a replacement lower wing and tail but the plane was still flying fine and I cannot see how a hard landing or even a crash should affect a plug. Maybe if you hit it with a hammer, on concrete....
I had actually planned to fly the plane until the airframe was u/s - salvage the
motor and radio, and play with putting it in a small stick and tissue.
