OK here is my entry. This is something a few of you may remember from the way back machine. It is a model that I originally built in the 80's.
Here is a thread to the plans (PLEASE don't order from RCM right now - they are taking money and NOT shipping!!!!!). But it is the only reference to the plane I can find...
I have the original RCM with from April of 1980. This is my birth month (not year LOL) and I fell in love with it when my issue of RCM arrived. I built one for my old trusted Fox .15 motor with the "flow thru" muffler. Just trust me when I say LOUD.
It is a larger variant of the very popular Q-Tee from Airtronics that was one of the key trainers back in the day.
I will use my old plans and RCM magazine to build this dude. It will be an electric conversion - so it qualifies under the "rules" of the project. I found a cutter that does the kit and it was $34.39. Chillie said shipping was not something I had to consider so I am good so far.
I will use some "old" (15+ years) to be exact covering. That will be about $15 in old dollars so I will be very close to the max. It is has a large wing so I am not sure how much covering it will take!!!
It have a 350w motor and 30-45 amp ESC and two servos since it is R/E/T control only. I would consider putting ailerons on - but they won't do much good anyway. And I really want this to be an authentic classic redo. So it will be original and simple. This may be the only all woodie in the competition too. Not too sure yet but I bet I am the only non-foam.
I have the laser cutter doing the work now - and I will begin ASAP. It will be a very quick build however. It is super simple. Now I need to dig out the plans and the old RCM.
I will add lights too! YEA!
Should be fun. I need to see how much covering I use - that may put me over the limit but it will still be fun....
