The Fanwing seems a radical new approach to STOL.The thing that worries me a bit is the glide ratio!
My thoughts were along the lines of a small toothed belt driving a pulley in the center of the wing.I seem to remember the original prototype model had a motor at each end of the wing.Might get a bit heavy.
The most succesful Stol's seem to be lightweight, with a large wing area.
Years ago,I built several of Andy Lennon's designs, but they were always too heavy to be truly good STOL craft.
I have often considered working slats as a way of improving STOL performance, but the sliding/folding mechanics always defeated me.These days, carbon fibre rod and powerful micro servos might make that possible.
Intrigueing possibilities.
To get back to the round wing, wasn't there a plan for one in a magazine's plans catalog?RCM or MAN,maybe?

Don't forget the XF-5U.

I almost pressed the 'buy' button on the components to build the flat foam one from plans in the recent ParkFlyer AMA magazine for Chellie's contest, but then I remembered who I am!

Lol! I'm not giving up but I knew I couldn't do it for the contest. Got that MPX Tucan in the works still.
