Default Dream-Flight Libelle DLG.....

This one is really talking to me...

http://youtu.be/eefE7RF_tms

http://www.dream-flight.com/products/libelle-dlg

Looks awesome and the price is great. Competition ships are well over $500!!!

This would be a fun rookie machine - and nice for Mt. Trashmore one of the few slope sites here in the metroplex...

Here is Jim's review....

I've got their Alula and love the plane. Ordered a Libelle the first day they offered it and am waiting on it. Hoping to have it in time for SEFF and have the wing break down to fit in the box I carry planes in on the Vstrom.

Take care and thanks for posting at WattFlyer!!

Going to try some iFlight 5g iS500 Ultra Micro Servos from Heads Up R/C. If they don't work out then the suggested Hi-tec servos. The little iFlights have worked ok for me in the past but I've never tried the 5g ones.

Take care and thanks for posting at WattFlyer!!

I was thinking about these - I use them in the Alula with good results...

MG and digital. Not bad for the price - but they are not perfect....

Great price!

It should be a good fun glider but, if spacs are accurate, a little heavy. Spec says just under 300g which is about on par, if not a bit heavier, than a full size 1500mm DLG, yet the Libelle is only 1200mm.

But at the price it would be harsh to complain.

Default Dream-Flight Libelle DLG

Since getting the DLG bug and buying an Alula from Dream-Flight I was in the market for a more conventional glider. Dream-Flight came out with the Libelle and it was just what I was looking for. A nicely designed EPP glider that seemed like a good value for the money.

http://dream-flight.com/products/libelle-dlg is the URL for Dream-Flight. The assembly manual is a small book and highly detailed yet easy to follow. In fact it took longer to read the manual and set up the radio gear than it did to assemble the DLG.

You can use regular CA glue for the assembly and total build time was around six hours including reading the manual and setting up the radio gear. That six hours included a break for lunch, doing a couple of honeydoos, and restroom breaks.

I test glided it to make sure the CG was correct then spent a couple of hours doing DLG launches. The plane flew nicely for me with full throws but I plan to have Nick King really tune it when we get back fro SEFF.

Am I happy with it so far? Yep! Too large to take it on the bike to SEFF but I'll figure something out so I can make it easily transportable like I did with my Alula. Too bad I didn't think about having Nick carry it down for me in his car!!!

Take care and thanks for posting at WattFlyer!!

What sort of average times are you guys getting from your Libelles from a flat field discuss launch without thermal assistance?

FWIW the mini (1M span) 'Elf' DLG I have usually gets around 70-80 seconds from a decent (by my standards) launch in calm conditions. Wind reduces those times a lot, the Elf is so light it really doesnt like wind. Been a while since I flew a full size 1.5M DLG but i think arould 90 seconds was the norm last time I tried, but that was using an old glider that doesnt come close to the latest types.

Jet, I really haven't got the DLG with a peg down yet. I could hold the Alula by the wing and really get some height out of the thing. I'm only getting about 2/3 the launch using a peg so far but am improving. Give me a couple of more weeks and I'll be able to give you a better idea of flight times.

Take care and thanks for posting at WattFlyer!!
