Default WL 959 Camera Quad and 9x / 9xr

I can fly my 959 and 911 on my 9x or 9xr without trouble ... BUT the 959 as many have said before refuses to accept Camera / utility command from anything except the stock Tx.

Has anyone managed to figure out how to get the Camera commands set-up on a 9x (FlySky OEM) or 9xr (er9x with FlySky module) ?

That is video stop / start .. single shot photo etc. ?

There's a dozen or more threads here:

http://www.multirotorforums.com/forum.php

Related to issues regarding camera, controllers and gimble set-ups for the 9x (FlySky OEM)......if you don't see what you need, sign in. The guys there are some of the most knowlegable AR, UAV, FPV and telemetry you'll find all in one place........more than 50% are pro's in the R&D and production......most very willing to share knowledge!

I'll have a look .. cheers.

But the 959 is a toy quad really and it's a common post that command signal for the camera control is not available in normal programming of 9x / 9xr .. everything else is for flight, but not the camera.

I'm hoping that someone may have cracked it ...

The camera itself turns out to be quite simple .. power leads, signal for each function. Just needs shorting respective signal to ground for short period to start / stop ...

So that should be simple to enact with 9x / 9xr.

OK - What is the maximum weight anyone has lifted with a 959 ? If anyone has a figure - is that with or without camera ?

I have a V-222 which I think is identical to the 959 as far as the airframe and motors are concerned.

It can barely carry anyhting beyond its own camera and still fly properly. I had done a simple test some weeks ago with these results:

11.5 grams - severely reduced performance but still flyable
23.0 grams - can fly but just barely and from time to time loses altitude
42.0 grams - lifts off the ground but only hovers a few cm above ground. Cannot lift beyond ground effect

This is with its own camera attached. The camera weighs 8 grams so I guess instead of the camera you would be able to carry some 15 to 19 grams and still fly reasonably well.

Removing the canopy saves another 5 grams or so and makes it fly better but you risk destroying the control board even in a mild crash.
