Default stupid is as stupid does...this was on the news.

this really pis.es me off even if everyone is in on the joke. most folks will think this isn't funny and is real. what a stupid video what with our having a pilot chop his skull and die flying locally.

this was on msn news online.

This is exactly what we are trying to put a stop to in our hobby. This sort of thing, even if it was a show, put on by all people present, is extremely dangerous.

If you belong to the AMA, flying over people is frowned upon or completely banned. If anything happened to that chopper, and it hit someone, we'd have a very different bit of news coverage.

Note that apparently the pilot was using what appears to be a 72 Mhz radio. Those radios can be hit by someone else on the same channel.

Yeah, things like this are never good, especially when they make it onto national news outlets.

I remember several years ago at a Dodgers/Diamondbacks game in LA, someone launched a UM Yak 54 from up in the stands. It eventually landed near the D-backs dugout and one of the players actually came out and stomped on it.

That video looks kind of old to me. I also wonder, not that it really matters, if it was something done in the US. If I was on the court and that happened, they would have got a great video of what happens when a tennis racquet goes through the rotor disk.

That was an appropriate response.

The video looks like an ancient British comedy sketch. Something that Benny Hill would have done if he had thought of it.
That would make it probably 35 mhz or 40 mhz (forgot which the UK used/uses) But yes, I see the long antenna typical of AM/FM systems.

Its old... Maybe as old as mid 1990's. Someone may even be able to find the TV program its from.

I saw a similar video with someone diving an rc plane at people in a park. Also a setup. There was audio though and they were speaking Spanish, I think.

Many years ago .... we had a current affairs program on after the 6 o'clock news in evening. It was on BBC.

For April 1st they used to do topics that were basically a serious and literally believable wind-up.

One of the most famous was the Annual Spaghetti Harvest in Italy. They literally got a whole Italian Village to play the game ... they had restaurants and fete's all set-up and filmed.

But for me - the best was the 'dog-fight'.

Story as told then ...

During WW1 .. a French village kept changing hands .. one day occupied by Germans .. next by Brits. This continued through the war ...
A young French girl had affair with a British Flying Corps pilot ... and also with a German pilot. After the war - they lost contact ...

The BBC tracked down these three and decided it was time the two pilots had the chance to battle for the Girls affections. Of course by now they were all three very old pensioners ... but as BBC reporter said - Love never dies.

The two pilots took of in their beloved Sopwith, D8 and fought it out over the fields of France ... with the 'Lady' watching from the ground.

Of course to the 'trained eye' they were obviously large models ...

I cannot remember the finish sadly .. and many of these excellent 'films' are difficult to find now. But they were well made and brought a smile to your face.

I do not say the Tennis / Heli vid is one of those ... just posting based on someone saying 'looks British' ...
