Default Depronker (Gere Sport design) Biplane

First saw photos when JDJim posted his build ... and then another with ailerons .. now here was a simple and effective bird that cried out for me to see what I could achieve.

Don't get me wrong - my admiration goes out to Gere Sport for the design and JDJim for building ...

I mentioned in the Scratchbuild that I was interested to see what could be done with this basic design - use it as a starting block. Keep the simplicity of it but add some cosmetics or subtle changes to give illusion of another.

Well - I have always liked the German scalloped wings and tails of WW1 fighters .. Fokker must have had an artistic bent in mind when he did that. Actually I heard it was an early attempt to get the airflow to separate cleanly from the T/E ... I doubt the story .. but who knows.

So I've emailed Gere Sport and let him know I'm taking a few liberties with his design and hope he doesn't mind.

I have made a few modifications .. scalloped T/E to wings, angled wing tips, tail feathers, made pilot cut-out in top wing, drawn a simple gun to mount ... I also plan to add a top curved decking with an engine block up front .. Coke bottle radial cowling ...

To give it the style of a WW1 Fokker ...

Now who's going to do the Sopwith version ?

I reckon with a little thought ... a little strengthening of the wings ... this could develop into a nice little Dog-Fight model ...

C'mon - who's game for a laugh ??

Attached is my first thoughts on the Fokker style "DZEPRONKER" ...

Nigel

Had a nice reply on RCG from Gere Sport ... so it's on ...

Lets see what we can do with this and get some cheap, fun Dog-Fight antics going ...

I'm already halfway though a Depronker Scout adversary for the Dzepronker ...

Looking for others ideas on it ...

So here's a few ideas ....

Depronker Scout ... maybe call it SOPRONKER ?

Dzepronker V2 ..... maybe call it FOPRONKER ?

I'm sure there are plenty out there who could do better ?

I thought the name was all about the Depron. Depronker.

If I built one, it'd have to be a FFFonker.

Just trying to inject a little humour into it as well ....

So maybe we should call them :

FoDepronker .... for the German

SoDepronker .... for the Brit

?? I just went for a part of the DEPRON word ..

Anyway ... enough about the names ... hows about building one or modifying one yourself ?

I'm surprised about the lack of participants ....

mmmm

I have to maiden :
Nijet
Snice Mitar
ME 109

To build :
Twin Tu144
Foamboard flatplate tester
Large version of Acro-Wot (MegaWatt)

To install and trim :
Three sets of 3 axis Stabilisers (3 models that cover basically a broad range to see what it can do).

To rebuild :
One of my 450 heli's which had a tumble when a tail blade holder bolt sheered

To reset motor mount :
Mig 3

This is all happening of course while my house is still suffering licenced bandits called Builders ...

The two 'Depronkers' I plan to also build will slip in there ... along with further ideas added to the sketch-version of the plan I have....

I found a neat trick - I know everyone else knows about this !! But select the object and then move one off the dotted surround lines alters the shape / design of the enclosed area. For example - you want a rounder rudder ... select the area ... pull the outer line away and rudder T/E expands out increasing the circular area ... adjust other sides to suit. Or you want a closer coupled fuselage length ... enclose the fuselage behind wind back to fin ... move dotted lines together ... fuselage shortens.

I can play all day with this !! makes change from 100,000 tons of oil shifting about !! every day.

Nigel,

Not sure what tweak's you're contemplating but just a note to explain what I did with the fuse. I tried to stay within the original design and build as much as possible. The top and bottom of the fuse are such that they set the AOA of the bottom and the middle wing. These two are equal AOA's. The inner and outer struts set the AOA for the top wing, which is ~1 degree less than the other two.

Have fun with it....

The cabanes / wings / struts remain all same .. what I envisage is to create a top-deck that more resembles the D7 or similar ... add a bit of curvature ...

Easiest way is to build as per flat square original - then add extra curved to it.
