How about a Hurricane....

Note the "open" canopy on this Windrider model! Woody did a lot of detail work on this great flying plane!

It isn't the mistake that causes the crash - it the time it takes to realize that it WAS a mistake!!

And a couple of good looking multi engined (motored! LOL) planes.

First a B-17 built by Wade Joos and flown by Randy Holt.

Size photo - gives you an idea of the actual size of the model.

And the same builder/pilot combo only in a different airframe! An A-26.

About the same wingspan as the B-17 this bird flew great and was fairly fast to boot!

Hans flew in from Germany again this year and came to the event with John Morgan. He was ever-present every day and flew this foamy profile F-16 a LOT. It really got a workout!!

Each year at AIH Bernie brings a BIG EDF jet to get the crowd going. In 2010 it was his C-17 and 2011 he had the 14 foot wingspan B-52 on display but his main pilot had the flu so it didn't fly. This year Bernie didn't disappoint as he brought the big B-52 back - along with it's twin brother - so he had TWO 14 foot wingspan B-52's that flew the noon demo together!

Taxi to the end of the runway!

Single line take offs!! LOL!!

Look really real taking off.

One away and here comes # 2 down the runway!

Not bad looking at all.

Both flew very well and were very convincing in the air. Unfortunately the pilots were not well versed in coordinated flight so there was little opportunity for photos of BOTH aircraft TOGETHER. The gear was retractable and worked flawlessly. The planes each flew 8 minutes and then set up for and completed a flawless landing. They flew at least 300 feet high during the entire flight save for climb out to altitude and digressing for the landing so in flight photos were nigh on impossible.

14 foot wingspan - at 300 feet! LOL!! Full zoom on my lens!

Landing.

Wow! Those are great! How did I miss this project on the net?!? Is Bernie a 'Skunkworks' kind of person, keeping it under wraps? I might have made the 3 hr drive to see this! What is this AIH event and when does it come around again?

It's the annual all electric event held each year in Las Vegas at Bennett Field near Boyd Stadium (UNLV). Up until 2009 it was called Superfly, but the original club that hosted it had some problems and relinquished it to another of the electric clubs in Vegas and it became the Ace-In-The_Hole all electric event.

Always in October in Las Vegas.

Go back in this thread to page #2 and look at post #32. That is Bernie's C-17 from 2010. Also Falcon5's beautiful F-4 (foamy pusher!! LOL!!).
