i have a smaller kavalier at 36 inch wing span that flies very nice. so what the heck. scale it up for big bird club fly ins. im hoping it will go vertical reasonalby well and then spiral straight down. thats pretty much the only trick I know. |

Looks great - I have many fond memories of the Kavalier back in the late 70's.

i switched out the motor from 4250 (15x8 prop) to 4258 (16x8 prop) to keep my 60 amp esc cool. Feels like it has plenty of thrust, with such a big wing and total weight at 6lbs I should be fine. charging batteries now, might get to fly tomorrow.

nice day at the field. the plane flew without a hitch. flies just like the smaller kavs - lots slower with the less wing loading. very docile. slow rolls. fun touch and goes.

ive been flying this lately. im going to see how it handles more power and speed. check for flutter and vibrations before i put i a bigger motor. i need to get more speed to cure the slow rolls.
