So does this represent a problem while flying?
Is there a potential problem associated with fields that allow multiple planes to fly at the same time? |

I think the main lesson is scanning is much better than staring!

while taking my full scale flying lessons that is one of the big things, scanning. We constantly look at different sections of the sky in a pattern to keep from staring and getting that tunnel vision effect.
Amazing what you see and don't see by not doing it. |

I guess it's kind of like target fixation...you concentrate so hard on looking at one object you lose the ability to notice things outside of your "tunnel."
That's how that other zombie gets you when you're trying to pop that particular one in the head... And how little old ladies mow down bike riders without even knowing they're there. Like Bill said, on the bikes I try constantly scanning side to side, mirror to mirror...it gets difficult on long interstate runs because you'll begin to drop your awareness and concentrate on straight ahead.... |

It's to easy to loose tract of your own model, or worse, return to the WRONG model and continue flying. I did that myself some 25 years ago, nearly lost a 10 foot sailplane. |
