I am new to rc flying and recently built up an inexpensive delta wing, most commonly known as "the towel". A2208/17T motor, 18A esc, 10 inch prop and 1750 battery. About 16 oz flight weight. I would like a more powerful motor to get speeds around 60 plus mph! Is there an inexpensive combination that can get me there while still retaining good low speed flight? I know I will probably need a 40a esc (along with a new motor and prop)but will my batteries still work? Hobbyking has very inexpensive components however I don't know which ones will work together. Again I am new to all the electric motor, esc, battery combinations and would like a few suggestions to think about. Thank you. |

welcome to wattflyer! i really don't do much with foamies so i'll ask...is this a pusher prop or front mount? and perhapes after a few more posts you could post a picture of this delta "towel"
.i'm sure theres a few[ ]pilots here with delta experience to help you get 60mph....or 100+ mph .

narrow is the place to land.
..wide is the space to crash ....choose the narrow way!

Again, I am new enough to this hobby that I do not know the pros and cons of front vs. pusher prop. Thanks for the reply! |

Hi Air Hog
I've built a few 16-18 ounce (450-500 gram) deltas and flying wings around 30 inch (750mm) wingspan with a 2200Kv A2208 9 turn motor, 4.75x4.75 EMP prop, 30A ESC, and 1300-1800mAH 3s Lipo they reach 75-80 mph and have unlimited vertical climb capability. With a 2200Kv A2212 motor and 5x5 prop they're noticeably quicker .Good luck... |

Air Hog,
I've built several profile Dollar Tree "prop in the slot" pusher jets. You can never have too much power-LOL Check out the Super mega V-2 from Grayson http://www.graysonhobby.com/catalog/...tor-p-585.html or look at the Micro Dan's: http://nanoplanes.net/motors.html#md2700 I typically use MAS or APC 6 x4 e's in these that get me to ~ 50- 60+ but nowhere near 100+. More to do with the airframe than the motor. For an adrenaline rush of 100+ , I fly my little Jpowers Rare Bear that cost me about $70 PNP. -Hawk |

For a lightweight replacement, you might try the Turnigy 2730-3000kv from HobbyKing. On a sleek airframe, it will get you close to 100mph with an APC 4.75x4.75 prop on 3s. It draws less than 18a so you will be able to use the esc you already have. I am using one now on a forward-swept creation of mine with a 4.5x4.1 prop and I'm getting consistant 70mph readings with the RCSpeedo app on my phone.
![]() Here is that motor on my Steven's Aero Adrenaline rush with 4.75x4.75 prop doing around 95mph...
