Hi,I thought I'd show a few pics of my current build.It's a canard design from the late 20's.Designer George Wulf actually got killed when he crashed oone of the 2 prototypes.

I got the plans on ebay from a fellow in Canada.It's an old english plan,which I had my eye on years ago,before it disappeared from the plans catalog.
Anyway,here's a couple of views of the fuselage:




As you might be able to see the sides are foamboard with the paper removed(what a job).The stringers are 3/16 balsa.There are 2 main bulkheads from foam,and the rear one has ply reinforcement ,as the wing dowels plug into it.
I haven't weighed the fuse,as it's not quite finished,but it feels pretty light so far.
Here we have a shot of the basic wing.Foamboard ribs,with balsa spars and sheeting,plus rib caps.


The ailerons are a 1/16th sheet core,with 1/8 ribs glued on,then sanded to shape.
Next is the stab with separate elevators.On the real one,they are hinged on oddly shaped brackets,but this didn't seem very strong to me.Hence I used plastic "flap"type hinges from HK.They will be glued and screwed to the rear of the bottom sheeting,filled with trailing edge stock at those locations.


Finally,a shot of the fin.Again,a 1/16th sheet core,but with foam ribs,except for the top and upper leading edge.This portion of the fin has a straight edge,as the front portion is attached to the wing.


Currently,I'm working on the music wire struts for the stab,and the wire undercarriage.Next on the board will be the nacelles,which will also be foam based.

Great subject. I love the oddball stuff, especially Luftwaffe subjects. The first pics reminded me of the Dornier Delphin, which I was debating when I decided to build their Gs recently.
I can't remember if it was on the web or the internet, but there's a full scale version of this plane, or at least a very similar version or replica that is flying now.

Congrats to your nice build up! That`s the first build up thread about a Focke Wulf FW 19 I`ve found, and Ì`m looking for years! I collected pictures, data sheets and 3 views of the FW 19, but it was not possible for me to find a plan for a rc model. I`ve started to construct an own plan. I also calculated aerodynamic datas, but in the moment I´m not sure if this calculation is correct.
Can you tell me facts from your model, like position of CG, the wing-profiles, angel of setting, scale and your expected AUW, electric or glow drive? And do you know a source for a plan nowadays?

I cant wait for your maiden flight.... and it would be nice to get some further informations! Thanks a lot!

It's an old english plan,that's probably been re-inked.Perfectly fine.
The plan is for 2 x .15 engines,but I'm going to use 2 of these:

I also use 2x50A esc's,and 2 x 3000 mah lipo packs in parralel.
I don't know what the all up weight is going to be,but I'm hoping for 2-2.5kg.The wing profile doesn't seem to be a specific section.
The c.g. is about halfway along the straight roof section.
I'm using a bit of foam here and there to keep weight down.Currently working on the nacelles in foam.I'll be flying of grass,so i'm using larger wheels as well.

Excellent,Quissel,have fun building this unusual model.I'm at a bit of a standstill at the moment,since I stuck my finger in a bandsaw bladeLuckily,it only cut my nail in half(!),but I need that finger for building

Sorry about the lack of updates,been a bit busy.
I made up the struts for the elevator out of 3/32 piano wire and brass strip


I've also done the nacelles, cowls,and cockpit cover.They are 1/2" foam sandwiched together,then shaped with various grades of sandpaper.
Then i covered all pieces with old dress pattern paper.It's very similar to model tissue,and applied with thinned aliphatic resin glue.
Then 2 coats of water-based polyurethane varnish,and the pieces have since been painted with silver acrylic enamel.


Unfortunately,the edges of the cockpit cover melted slightly,due to the paint being thinned with mineral turps.
I wasn't altogether happy with the fit of the cover anyway,so i'll line the affected areas with 1/16th balsa,and shape to fit.
