That's a shame, it seemed to be flying like it was on rails prior to deploying the speed brake. I guess the morale of the story is to test out stuff like spoilers, flaps, brakes etc at a safe altitude

Sorry to see that. Such a good looking plane, too.

The effect of the brake was very dramatic. I wonder if the turbulence from the brake might have 'masked' the tail making the elevator inefective? Or maybe the nose down pitch moment caused by the low slung drag brake did it?.Good to hear that it's almost fixed. |

While it looked cool working at a scale looking speed, you may want to make it work faster in case you have to get it put away quick!

Thanks to all for the comments on my build. Sorry to see the crash, but as it has already been said, test functions like flaps and speed brakes at a good altitude.
My speed brake is further back and the shape is exact scale, I can't really tell how Newpilot's is shaped from that angle shot. I will say that my speed brake has no effect on the trim when fully deployed, so something is different with the shape, deflection and location or all of the above is my guess. Here is a an up to date video of mine, changed out the struts and wheels for the Freewing SU-35 struts and wheels, much better! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v7LDNqivR_I |
