A lot of those aren't real aeroplanes.....there's a bit missing from the quote : "Real planes have two wings and round engines"
.But seriously there are a few interesting planes in the list. Have you tried any of these plans yourself ? How good are they ? They're certainly not cheap and no examples of the plans are shown. The idea that they are mainly for display models models makes me wonder if a) they might not be much more than scaled up 3-views and b) even if they do give any structure have they ever been successfully built or flown. There are a few customer examples on the site but it's difficult to tell if they're flying models. The recommended engine size of .25-.50 ci for models only 26-40" span is a bit worrying too. Steve (not very trusting these days I'm afraid) |

Hi Steve, no I haven't ordered any of the plans myself, just found the site through a link list I posted on "Warbirds" recently. You're right, the price seems a little high but if they're scaled up from Paul Matt or Wylam plans like the ones I've seen in old M.A.N. mags they're real scale drawings. My guess is they require a tracing to engineer a model structure. I've only done this once (with an SE 5A from M.A.N. drawings) and it's a LOT of work! I thought the "True-Scale" buffs might find it interesting. For sport flyers I'll bet it's "overkill".
Some of the planes are pretty hard to find good drawings of, in that case it may be the only way to get a set. I do like the fact that they're just the right scale for electric models. Some are available elsewhere and a couple (like the Cessna 195, Spirit of St. Louis) are even available as ARFs. If anyone tries a set, maybe they'll let us know! Ron |
