Managed to get a session in last night home .... WOW !!
The change to a 4.75 x 4.75 gave it a whole new life ... and sound. Video will upload later ... Speeds from 80 - 110kph .... not bad I reckon for a flatplate scratch-build depron machine. Used the catapult - beautiful ! Went away straight as a die. Nigel |

very...very...very cool!!!!Nigel, she flys great and the bunglaunch was perfect
. I've come to realize the best days to video are cloudy as the back drop lets our planes show up better as a black silhouette. nice build. really need to get the desirer to try and build something like this one day.

Hi Stu ..... I was wary about the model before I flew her ... couldn't see that such a simple model would perform so well ... but BOY ! is she cooooooooooool !
The size is just right and will not be building the larger plan version. What i will do is modify to fit a couple of 40mm EDF's in next one. This one is already had modification to get a 920mAh 4S in ... so when I get back from Singapore - she'll be launched with a 3S as normal to make sure all still OK - then the 4S put in to really see what she'll do. The whole model took LESS than one standard sheet of 6mm Depron. I used a spare PKJ light high KV motor ... and spare prop / ESC etc. The LiPo's are from early days of my 50mm T45 ... so basically I was on the rummage bin to complete her for peanuts. The reward - well you see the video ! Stu - it was SO SIMPLE to make ... and my mods make it even more simple ... you have various stuff from the PKJ's ... why not get some 6mm depron and do it ? The colour scheme gave me trouble as all I found was the standard USAF grey .... having flown the first 2 flights with that and the couple of stripes on top - I added the white next day. Next one will be all-over white and then sun-burst stripes to get her visible. Maybe you noticed in the video, that as she flew overhead - the silhouette was EXACTLY an F15 ... Steve S certainly designed a brill plan model. OK - I took a few liberties and altered a few bits to make it easier to build ... but it's a sound design. Can't wait to get home again. Nigel |

Tried to catapult launch her ... but wouldn't play ! Then realised that ramp angle was too much and made it difficult for hook to work. Pal offered to hand launch .......... she rolled straight into the ground ... snapped of the nose. Got her home and asbout 10 mins with epoxy had her back together again. Video is being sorted now ... will link shortly. Nigel |

Hi All,
After a 27 year break from modelling, I started again in 2011 and can't believe how it has all changed, I have so much to learn! Anyway, when I saw the F-15 plan, even better I can buy Depron locally, I had to build it. Only problem is, I lack creativity and skill when it comes to colours and schemes...... never mind, I still look forward to flying it when finished. Regards Ian |

Because it's hard to get CF rod etc. here - I cut the elevators into fixed stabs and elevators hinged ... removing the need to fabricate that central rod affair. I use a 9gr servo each side for aileron / elevator. Nigel |

There are three different types of RC model jets. There are jets powered by pusher propellers. Some RC jets are propelled by ducted air fan units. And by far the coolest of them all (an the most crazy expensive) are powered by genuine gas turbine engines!

I set-up the bungee catapult with extra tension for my 1.4kg F16 70mm .... and thought it would be fine for my lesser models .....
The lightweight F15 which normally goes of sweet on the catapult was yanked hard into the ground, breaking up the left wing. I've glued it back together but it doesn't look right - it seems to have a bend in that wing which I cannot remove. Looks like I may have to cut and replace whole wing or build another ... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Nigel |

I can't seem to win at moment with this model ... all was fine with her till she had a failed launch ... the wing / fuselage cracked. Repaired and then only trouble every launch after ... motors burning out, ESC's failing ... wing cracking ....
So new wing ... new motor .... new ESC .... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IagWw...ature=youtu.be ESC again fails !! Reckon I will downgrade the motor and give her a fighting chance !! Nigel |
