I have to be stark raving bonkers ! Winter

Big Canadian cold front coming through today. High temps next week in Dallas hovering around 40F. Possible ice and snow. That's bone chilling enough for me. Still have run of the house so I'll be repairing the squadron while watching football after a so-so flying day yesterday.

I built skis for my Flightstar 40- then the snow melted.

I may have to find out how well my Fokker D-VII does with them (my DX5 killed my Flightstar).

No snow yet- here in Syracuse NY!

This guy has his s#$t together when it comes to snow flying ,i hope he puts plans out . Its ugly but it flys great.

My biggest worry is if they can pivot, if the mechanism that holds them up fails, it probably won't stay airborne.

That guy with the landing light must be getting a heluva lotta lift from those skis.

He is flying with flaperons and gyros ,both of witch i would not know how to program

I have a set of floats for my Cessna and I am told that they work on hard snow as well ... but I am not willing to wreck my Cessna to find out !

But they were cheap enough from HK ... with full fixing kit and screws etc.

I planned to fit them to fly of the river at back of my house ... but somehow never got round to it ... with winter here and river freezing ... ice flying maybe on the cards if I can keep my feet warm enough !
I know that in such - it's best not to use wheels as they tend to get frozen to the axles and then you're looking at disaster when landing.

But the mounts could be used to fit ski's ... instead of the usual Ú/C legs main fixing and thread at front to keep the tips up !

I have seen guys fly off of snow with floats but for me that means you have to stand outside in the cold to do it.
