Slow Stick 2.0
I know a lot of you are familiar with the GWS Slow Stick, it's a great trainer and a well designed airplane. One of our club members started modifying his then a number of other members followed his lead and started modifying theirs. What started out as a slow trainer started morphing into planes that could actually perform. Our leader Steve Zingalie, his uncle is Joe Zingalie of Zinger prop fame, started cutting new tail feathers that are about 20% larger, we found a source on the internet for stronger landing gear with a steerable tail wheel and we all started looking for brushless motors with much more power. I am including a picture of my version of the Slow Stick, I call in the Version 2.0 because I designed a new wing for the plane. The new wing performs way better than the original wing at faster speeds. The original wing would tend to tuck under coming out of a split "S" or loop requiring quick reduction in throttle. The new wing performs well at all speeds, and landings were greatly improved. The rate of decent on landing is very stable and very smooth.
