Very nice, looks like a scaled down version of Hugh's spruce goose.

I am so impressed with this build I decided to check out the prototype. The Short Solent was developed from the design of the Short Sunderland military flying boat. It was originally powered by four Bristol Hercules 1,735 hp engines. The plane was first flown in 1946 and used by both BOAC (British Overseas Airway Corporation) and TEAL (later Air New Zealand). The Solent could carry 34 passengers and 7 crew. Between 1948 and 1950 BOAC had 3 flights weekly from Southampton to Johnannesburg. The preceeding is a very short historical account.

Default short solent

You are right on with the years and passengers ,i am to busy building and not real worried with the history yet. I seen a picture of ivans smaller one,80inch wing flying through a mist of fog with the mountains in the background about 5years ago and i was hooked. I lost his site to order the plans for a couple years but found it again last year and ordered the plans . I found a build thread of luke peniltons on rcg and his pictures and build thread have been a great help . I am building the teal company plane and have all of the graffics from callies graffics where luke and ivan bought theirs from . here is ivans sight http://ivansplans.com/ he has other sea planes and i will order the albytross next with 80 inch wing span .Ivans planes are built real light and it has been a different kind of building for me to get use to but it is great for electrict flight .Ivans 480 solent came in at 124ounces with c size batteries and i am using lipos . I hope mine is close but i dont think so and will weigh it soon. Here are more of ivans builds and video of him flying his solent, after you see him flying his solent you will know why i wanted one. http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=710485 You have to scroll down for the videos. joe

Default plans

Eagle 33 if you do order plans give ivan some time as he has hundreds of emails and he will return yours. He prices out every ones plans different because he sells all over the world and has to figure out shipping. Ivan is a great elderly gentelman still flying and drawing these great electrict planes and a pleasure to deal with or ask if you run into any problems while building your plane. joe

That is an incredible plane 97. I love those older craft, there is just something very majestic about them. I envision them lifting slowly from the water like a swan taking flight. Great workmanship, makes my foamies look like poop.

A Slow Stick and I love it, going to buy my wife and kids one. Hard to beat for $30.00 bucks. I have a bunch of no frills 4 channel radios lying around. They come in enough colors so everyone gets the own color.

I stopped by the LHS on the way home tonight and saw an Electrifly Sopwith Pup marked down to $40. Couldnt resist. So I took it home.

Default Newest Plane

This is my latest addition to my hanger, a Flyzone J3 Cub. I bought it from the scratch & dent offering at Tower Hobby at 1/2 price. Only problem, a cut in the fake black windshield and two small fasteners missing.

I am hoping the electronics are ok - if so I think it was a good deal.
