It did not come today. I am not too worried about it. I am headed to Hodges tomorrow for the fly in. I will check when I get back if it came.

BTW are we going to see you there?

Got my stickers today. I hope Mike has alot of these. My canopies don't often live a long life. I tried to think of a way to remove the plane. In the end, I decided to just leave it alone and stick it on there.

Don't you want to display it on a plane you can actually FLY?

Ha Ha Ha. The DW is a great flying plane. It is incredibly stable. The motor mount is a bad design, but I fixed that with some 1/4" ply. As long as the nose landing gear locks, it is a kitten to land. I have 4 successful flights with her. Even my Emergency Landing with 1 motor hanging out of the plane was smooth.

Yeah but I paid for my kids plane (beofre and after) so I can crash it if I want to!

Just like racing speed is expensive, how fast do you want to go...

same for flying, power is expensive, how Big you want to go?

You DO raise a valid point.....

I wouldn't mind flying some bigger stuff, but I don't have that kind of discretionary cash.....I'll just watch for now.

Unless I can put a KW motor on a foamie combat plane?

See, I don't really think that's always the case. I got my Screamin' Delta Demon up over 100mph for around $50 (got the balsa and monokote airframe used for $5, add in a $14 high kv inrunner, $11 30amp ESC, $12 20C 1300mah 3S, and an $11 72mhz Rx). Granted, I got a steal on the airframe, but you could always just go with a narrow delta foamie design and probably get the same result using those electrics.

Originally Posted by firemanbill View Post

Now this one you're more right about, but mainly because of the cost of batteries. The plane with everything minus power system I bought used for $50. I got my Turnigy 50-55 600 motor for about $43, my 6S 4400mah battery pack cost me $80 (4 x 2200mah 3S in 6S2P), and the 70 amp ESC cost me $24. Oh, and the motor mount cost me $12. Add in some shipping, and it was around $200 altogether to get a plane with a 1300kw power setup. Still, though--I think I came out cheaper than most of you guys.

I think that's my niche--getting the most zip possible for my pennies. I get nearly as much fun out of calculating my per watt or per mph cost as I do out of flying the things.

You probably could, but I doubt the rest of the plane could keep up with the nose once you throttled up.

I wasn't referring to RC in regards to speed... I was talking NASCAR (kev understands that redneck stuff)

Heck I've got a stock Stryker that is more than fast enough for me.

I don't do any hovering with the Big Ol Waco but I know the punch you refer to.

It is so cool to nail the throttle about mid field and hear that prop beating the air and that big ol bird shoot up the way she does....

It sure does impress them gas boys!
