There was an idea started by a modeler name Hoser that flew EDF Jets that for some reason...just struck me as a great idea. Hoser and I spoke about tweaking the logo and chartering a division for the prop side of the house. He agreed and here we are. The KW prop club started a year ago this month (8-10-04) and to date I have shipped over 73 decals from the USA to Sweden to Australia and almost everywhere in between.
I see a couple of heli's posted, but I thought this was for 'the prop side of the house'?
I broke 2KW with the Medusa 36-70-1200 on 10 cells! The only problem is, it only lasted 4 flights before demagnetizing. I really thought it would last. The video here is the second flight when I was having ESC problems. She was running smooth and fast today before stopping suddenly.
Thats too bad, looks like it was flying great. Four flights out of a motor is a little pricey though!
Sounds like you may need to go easier on the throttle management
Letting the motor cool down with a pass or two at very low throttle before you land helps too. Going from a hi power run to a dead stop is hard on these motors as the heat built up in the rotor has a hard time getting out without air flow and a chance to cool down over time.
Ive heard some guys recomend running at 1/4 throttle for a minute or so after landing. Not sure how effective that would be though.
My jet is running well now at about 2020 watts with a 1300kv Medusa and 9 cells. I expect to break 3 KW soon with a 36-80-1100kv V2 on 12 cells. Even with all that extra power, I don't believe the speed will increase by much.

I got a super hookup from a new battery manufacturer, H-Energy. They made me a set of batteries for my Yak 54 to replace the Tanic's that were now 3.5 years old and not flyable.
Oh my goodness.... I have two new girlfriends. Daisy and LucyLu at H-Energy. I'm gonna get in trouble with my wife because I LOVE DAISY & LucyLu!! Any girls that give me batteries like this, are high on my list for sure.

The Yak 55 has a PJS 10000 motor, & MGM 100amp controller and once I put in these batteries and plugged in the Wattmeter, both Richie and I were impressed. I took he camera and the wattmeter to the plane hoping to get a 1kw award.... um..... SHOCKER!
Electricity... It's not just for light bulbs anymore.
I made a couple of changes to my electric TRex 600 last weekend. I got a new set of Rhino 4S 4000 25C packs and wired them up in series to get an 8S 4000 pack. I played with the settings on my HV85 and switched my blades from VBlades to Radix. I was very impressed with how the new packs and my trusty Scorpion HK4025 890kv motor performed. I was able to hit a new personla record of 3.1KW!!! Here are a couple of pic of the the Eagle Tree Data to back it up. This was only the third cycle on these packs. Only time will tell how long they hold up to the abuse.
Current setup is a Scorpion HK4025 890kv motor, Dual Rhino 4S 25C 4000mah packs to make an 8S 4000 pack, Castle Creations Phoenix HV85 esc, 600mm Radix blaes, 16T pinion. I topped out at 3181W, high amp draw of 107.9A, and a low voltage of 27.72v.
