Coming soon, my Plank entry for the KW club. 72" Nitroplanes Yak 54 with Exceed monster 160 and 21 X 8 electric wood prop. Didn't get pics of the Wattmeter tonight but unofficial 2550W, 67 amps, no rpm's yet. Hey it was almost dark. Hobbywing 100A HV opto. Pulls almost like a 50CC.

I think we should get multiple KW club icons. I have planes in the 1kw, 2kw and 3kw groups... then again, if we did that, maybe my little space would get a little bit too filled up.

These from after work today. 66 amps, 2450 watts. I'm impressed with the Exceed 160. Not as much with the prop, too noisy- I think the tips are flexing.

Changed to high timing. Making 2550 W.

Why not? I think they should count just like planes. Watts is Watts after all

I am somewhat biased though. Later on Im going to be posting a log file from my Raptor that gets me into the 2kW range

In the mean time, here is a log from BUFY that get me to about 1150 watts.

Wait... you have an electric Raptor? Links? Info? I fly a Trex 500 - I know it makes over 1000 watts periodically, but I don't have any way to measure it.

I guess I should go ahead post it up... Did my first runs last night and here is the power reading from the new Big Pitts!

4224 Watts on a 12s setup swinging a 22x10 Pro Zinger, even with a smaller 21" APC I'm still in the 4k range.

Oh no, I was behind it for sure!

That's an Eflite Wattmeter, got it at the LHS but you can pick them up from Horizon. I like the watts up type meter better since it shows everything at once. I got this one before I knew about that one.

I wonder if you can get 1kw out of a 60 amp esc? I might have to get a new motor and prop for the pulse and change out the power 32 it has on it now.

edit...22 in prop...WOW

Hard to say without trying. I have a Welgard 4130/08 running on 8s lipo and an HV 80 amp esc on my Shoestring and it is getting right at 1100 watts on a 13x10 APC.

I have had it clocked on radar at 87mph into a pretty stiff wind at SEFF lat year. keep in mind that is a 7.5 pound 1/4 scale plane too!

Depends on how many volts the esc can handle.

1000W/60 amps = 16.66 volts.

So if you are using at least 5S lipo packs, then you could easily hit 1000 watts. With 6S or more you could get well over 1000 watts on a 60 amp esc

Yeah, it is possible. In fact stay tuned. I plan to have my Shoestring on the bench this weekend with a 11x8.5 on 6S - prediction is 51A so 51A * 20v (under load, being conservative and considering losses) = ~1Kw. Pitch speed is predicted in the 90's with 7lbs of thrust. Should be a hum-dingah.

That being said, I plan to run this bird on an 80A but the Plush I got from HC was DOA, so I will test it on the 60. My feeling is that 51A on a 60A is cutting it too close when an extra $15-20 can give you a 30A cushion. I am using a Dimension Engineering SportBEC for the servos and Rx but still I don't like to push my ESCs over 75% if I can help it. I also plan to try out that APC 11x10 I've had in my box looking all lonely, just acheing to go fast

I picked up a Raptor E550 last fall. After my last unscheduled 'up-grade opportunity' I stretched it to the Raptor 50 Titan/E620 boom and Im running 600mm blades now.

I dont have a build thread on it. Its really not much different than any other E Raptor other than Im using an inrunner and the A123 pack option.

Average power usage during a typical flight is around 700 watts. Full collective punch outs hit just over 2kW. On the flight below I hit 2101 watts. It should go up a little more once I dial in the full collective available. I have it tamed down a bit for now while Im still getting used to the machine

The Raptor is my favorite heli so far. It is very stable and smooooth in the air. I have had a Logo 10, Logo 20, Maxir, Dragonus and now the Raptor. The Logo 20 came the closest but the Raptor is the best all around heli of the bunch.

Heli = Raptor E550 with 600mm blades and R50Titan boom
motor = Medusa 3670-750 inrunner
Castle HV ICE 60 controller
10S1P Polyquest 5000 lipos or 12S1P A123 packs
Peak power 2101 watts

Is that the new smaller Shoestring? Mine is the old glow model that I converted to electric.
