Wonderful, Barry. You have your building system and power setup so well sorted, that anything you tackle works brilliantly! I'm delighted for you that your nostalgia trip to your youth worked so well. :-) I'm jealous of your fine flying day, though, as the few dry days we've had here on Canada's west (wet) coast during the last 6 weeks have been very windy, blowing in the next storm front.

Sounds good Barry. I thought it would be fine, with all that aileron control. I wouldn't be surprised if the relatively high sweep in the LE gives some added stability, like a delta. The only things that worry me much now are things like high aspect ratios, odd thrust lines, and slightly piggish proportions like Aerovans.

There are a number of scale CL plans on the outerzone site I'd like to build. About the only thing I'd probably do, is change a fully symmetrical airfoil. I imagine a number of them would fly fine as rc planes.

Hi Brad, I'm really glad that I decided to standardize on one motor setup and build the models around it. It's by far the cheapest option and it's really starting to pay off now. I want to build a four engined model next but I don't actually need to buy the power systems for it as I already have them available. I just need to scale the plans to the same ratio as the previous ones. Sounds easy when you say it quickly!

Brilliant day yesterday, makes a huge change from the awful weather of the last few months!!!

It was so strange to see the model airborne again! A real trip into the past especially as I was almost at the same location where the original flew ( or didn't) over 50 years ago. I could actually see the spot, where I flew back then in 1960, from the flying strip!!

Bill, I think the swept wing works well towards stability too. Amazing to think that it was designed way back in 49. I've actually had control issues with some full length aileron builds in the past so I was a little concerned in that area.
I've been looking at the C/L plans on Outerzone now as well as there are some great looking designs on there.

I've added the colour scheme as I remember it on the original. I decided to use Humbrol acrylics for the job as I needed to paint indoors. It's true they don't smell and I stayed warm but I don't like the finish they produce half as much as the enamels.
I've had so much fun with this that I think I'll build the other early control line models I had in the past as R/C planes and see if they convert as easily.

Barry, I should have realized you would have a SkyStreek thread. I really appreciate this thread as it shows it in all of its glory. I don't have my office PC back yet but the one in the workshop (you didn't know about that one) is "community use" so I can log in and occasionally goof off at WattFlyer(!). I have more work than I know what to do with, but there is a financial reward this month ($$$). You deserve those contributor awards IMHO.
