transmitter on commercial aircraft

Not sure where to post this. Are there any rules about taking an RC transmitter on a commercial domestic flight? I use my transmitter with a simulator and want to have it with me when I travel. Seems like the sort of thing the TSA might not allow.

Don't know for sure, but with all the lipo-on-airlines questions lately, i imagine someone must have been carrying a transmitter? Hopefully one of them will chime in. I'm curious to know.

If my old memory is correct, cell phones are not allowed to be turned on during flight, so I'd suspect they would not appreciate an RC transmitter be turned on.

If you've got a simulator with an included transmitter, those units don't have any RF output.

I've carried amateur radio handheld transceivers on flights with no problems. Of course the same rule applies--don't transmit although I did listen some. If you're checking that with luggage I can't see it being any issue at all. If it's carry on it would probably be a good idea to remove it's batteries.

I've flown with my JR radio in checked baggage no problem. I assume you won't be using it on the plane, you just want to have it with you wherever you travel too.

There is no issue with an RC tx - but best is to pack in the checked hold bag. Some airport security are extremely touchy about unusual items. I've carried tx and sim tx but always in the hold bag.
