North San Diego County Senior Center Fliers

Here in North San Diego County, a few of us, usually 6-8 fellas meet at our local Senior Center to fly; most of us are over 50 so no problem there. We have permission from the SC to fly there as long as we have AMA or similar insurance. The place is fantastic with no obstructions of any kind and a street that dead ends at both ends running West to East which is our main runway. We have a blast most Saturdays and Sundays from around 7-11 in the morning. The wind really picks up after 11, but by then most of us have run out of battery juice anyway!!

Hi Chuck! You're scaring me. I only have 4 years to go till I'm 50, and you said senior center in the same sentence. (Well, it was almost in the same sentence.)

You definately qualify. BTW - Come December, I plan on applying to join your club. I have gone to your field a couple of times to check it out and met some of your members. They seem like a great bunch of guys. I work in Rose Canyon so your field would be ideal for after work flying. If I join now, would it only be for the month of November and December and would I have to rejoin in January? I have a collegue here at work who flies and also wants to apply join.

Nitro, I sent in my application, documentation for AMA and check to SEFSD last night. I look forward to being part of your club. Is there a competency test to show you can fly? If so, what type of plane can I use?

Chuck, its purely a visual thing.

You take off, do a circuit, and land showing you have proficiency.

Had a great time flying at the Senior Center yesterday. The wind cooperated and I got to fly every plane I took once or twice each; they all went back home in one piece. Great day of flyin' and later a superb prime rib Thanksgiving dinner!!
