http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...arehouse_.html Total flying weight is appx 800g and HKs recommended setup is 2200 3S with a 28mm inrunner @ 300W but HK in the UK have only one motor on offer of the right size and wattage (the HK Donkey) and that's designed for a car. I've seen one of these being flown for FPV on youtube, the guy had fitted an outrunner, OK not pretty but it seemed to fly OK! ![]() Can anyone suggest a good motor and prop setup for this plane please? Ideally for some general sport flying. Cheers Dave

Hi Dave
darn, your in the UK, i was going to suggest a motor from HURC, but he does not ship over seas, here are some motors that will work.the turnigy 2836 2350KV 480 Watt motor would be my first Choice, with a 60 amp turnigy Plush or Sentry ESC, to keep the ESC cool, its a power house, you can also use a heli motor with a 28mm outside can, with 1900 to 2500KV http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...er_2350kv.html use a 6x5.5e prop with the Turnigy 2836 2350KV motor, there is more info in the Video below. Hope that helps, Chellie http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...er_2100KV.html |

Thanks Chellie,
The 2836 - 2350kv is in stock in the UK. One question though, do you propose I mount this INSIDE the firewall like an inrunner? If so I think that the diameter of the motor will be pretty close to the inside of the pod. If that’s the case I’ll probably have to route the motor wires outside the fuse and bring them back inside in front of the motor or they will foul the motor case. I notice that HK rate this motor as giving 800g of thrust. Given that the plane is also 800g this will give a 1 to 1 thrust/weight ratio. Is that going to be adequate for some spirited sport fun? |

here is another motor, its a inrunner, its in the UK, I am not sure of the Watts, but it will fit a 6x5.5 prop. 25amps x 10volts= maybe 250 WATTs
http://www.myhobbies.myzen.co.uk/sho...at=130&group=8 http://www.jperkinsdistribution.co.u...p?JPNO=4445060 here is another inrunner that will work nice http://www.horizonhobby.com/products/EFLM2005 http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1584079 |

its a awesome motor, I have that motor and love it you will have a 1 to 1 power ratio and it does not get to much better than that also later if you want more power, you can use a 4 cell lipo and a 5x5 apc prop and make it go Ballistic ![]() Info from HK on the BD-5 http://174.143.95.154/hobbyking/stor...dproduct=17137 Can someone recommend an appropriate HK in runner motor and prop? ![]() Why not use outrunner instead? There is plenty of space inside and it costs much cheaper. For speed and unlimited vertical, you may consider on using turnigy 2836 outrunner 2,350KV, 5X5 prop, min 40 A ESC (50-60A recommended) and 4S (35-45C) 1,800-2,200mAH Lipo. This is a James Bond's plane and it should fly fast |
