Well first the fins and wingtip will be covered with carbon fiber veil. Then the rest of the plane will have tissue applied. Then a dope finish applied so I can keep the airframe as lightweight as possible.
If I were going to do a "woody" the workmanship would have to be better than the paint grade work I did on this one.

Now the fin is starting to look like it is part of the wingtip once I got it covered with the carbon fiber. I'll let the VOC's mellow before I go back in to do the other one. I am curious as to the effect of adding the carbon after just the dope had stiffened up the fin quite a bit.

Four layer of carbon fiber and we have winglets. I am fairly sure they are more than stiff enough at this point. The second layer probably would have been enough, but just to be sure I did a couple more layers.

After many coats of clear with sanding in between, I just got the first coat with pigmented dope done, the finished shape is now a lot easier to picture.

That's looking better every time I look at it. I especially like those tip rudders and the way you blended them into the wing. This should look great after you get it finished. Your even getting me wanting to see this thing fly.

Ed thanks so much for you kind words.
I am very curious as to how it will perform in the air.
I had hoped to be a bit further along but hit a bit of a speed bump with some premixed hobby filler that I used failing under tension. After the butyrate dope shrunk up even though it had several coat of nitrate applied beforehand the filler didn't hold up.
So I am essentially back to the same point I was at in the last picture just as of today.
