Well here's an idea that a mate of mine had years ago in UK. He built cradles that sat in layers ... ie : He'd have a cradle at bottom that was matched to a model, he'd then add another cradle on top that had locating tabs to first that sat over top of model ... he could then place another model on that second cradle using same floor space. With the foam board we use now - this would be an easy and light solution to a problem that I certainly have ... that guys back then was made in lite ply. Simple but effective. Nigel |

i built a ply wood deck for the rear of the honda pilot thaat could be slid in and out as needed. i fit 2/3 smaller planes underneath with the flite box.on top i put my larger planes. now i don't do this anymore after reading someones post here of a car accident where loose stuff crashed through the windshield. that hog bipe would be a killer when seated on the shelf like i had it.

narrow is the place to land.
..wide is the space to crash ....choose the narrow way!

Part of the reason I kep my full sized station wagon. I can fit an 8X4 sheet of plywood in the back without having to worry about leg room.
We have fit 3 slowsticks, my old mini ultra stick, an my dads advanced, as well as a full sized .40 gas trainer and all equipment. Only the trainer had the wing taken off. Its a bit larger then a 48" wingspan, so it doesn't quite fit right without pulling off the wing. I'm sure there have been times when we had more in there. Its so cool to be able to take an already gassed up plane out of the back seat, lawn chairs ect and fire it right up and fly without any setup. |
