Default House Fire Pics

Bothell Fire did a controled burn of a old house next to the park I fly in. I flew a pack on the F27 then headed home amd grabbed the AP plane. When I got back the house was fully engulfed so I got in the air fast and lucked out with some pics. The rising heat and smoke would send the Pie up another 50 feet when right over it so I tried to circle around the outside. I was worried about the colored packing tape melting the few times I got a little to close but all looked good on landing.

wow you have a great camera there. I never even thought about using a camera on a place for something like that.. Cool. but I wish the pics were of a lake or something I hate seeing house fires since I lost my granddaddy in one.

You should see if the Fire Department would be interested in those pictures.

We all have a little pyro in us and while I couldnt see the fire from the ground I could see the smoke so went up and hoped for the best.
I have about 40 keeper pics I plan to donate to the Fire Department tomorrow so that should keep them busy a hour or 2.

Last thing I wanted todo was catch my plane on fire, They sent someone over to see if I was nuts or not. The guy left uncertain after talking to me.

I'm sure 10 out of 10 Fire Departments would nix that idea but keep thinking them up anyways.

Took close 600 photos just to make sure I got something usable from this. Was a little breezy up there and gray overcast day so I didnt think the video would be worth while. I couldnt see the house at all and would guess I was standing about 200 yards from it trying to circle. Lots of tall trees blocking my line of sight at times so I just did the pics.

Just found this thread -- absolutely amazing!

You might want to try to sell the photos to your local newspaper, or television station!!!

Isn't selling photos still bad?

I missed this thread too.
I've seen smoke at least a couple times and didn't have my plane near.

Good work having everything ready to go and getting the shots.

You can still do AP for money, the FAA guidelines with their countless loophole statements never shut us down. You will get guys that say its the most illegal thing to do in this world, but that is their perception of what the FAA says and its quite a stretched perception. Go to Aplanding.com and read up on it, all these guys are continuing to do AP and making good money at it in the process. This is part of the reason I quit going to the AP forum at RCgroups, they just stretched the FAA's guidelines to such an extreme level.
