There are some plans available for WWI planes that are built from flat foam. Can't remember offhand, but I've seen a good few in recent years. I have a Flying Scale article buried somewhere, with a Bristol Scout build, if I remember correctly. I thought about building it. Looked nice with the white foam color for the base color, with red and blue British markings on it.
