I have made a couple of posts in the beginner's forum about my disastrous attempt to fly a ParkZone Spitfire. Will be getting a Super Cub shortly. Anyone else fom Perth here? |

Hi Marchino,
I'm in <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com So far I cannot find any clubs that are very close to me, but there are a number of gatherings that occur around the parks on Saturday and Sunday. <O </O![]() <O </O![]() The Super Cub looks like fun ![]() <O </O![]() <O </O![]() I would have thought, given the popularity of electrics, that there might be some clubs spring up that are affiliated with the MAAA using larger parks or school ovals – if anyone knows of one then please post it !!! |

I now belong to WA Radio Soarers, an official MAAA club in Yokine and I only fly there (Yokine Reserve). It is a public park but we have official permission to fly there and we benefit from 3rd party insurance.
The official flying day is Sunday, but you can fly there at any time. Unfortunately I will be away during July, but contact Ross Cant (9227 9131) if you are interested. You can fly three times as a guest before having to join at a cost of $130 pa. I have a Slow Stick too, so please let me know if you have any questions about it. One problem I had was that it does not automatically have downthrust and right thrust. This can make it pitch up and stall....you have to find a way of pointing the motor down and right - approx. 3 degrees in each direction. I also have the Super Cub. I was such a bad flyer I gave it up in favour of the Slow Stick, but in reality my main problem was bad trim. This is where a club can help - you can get an experienced flyer to set up your trim and then it is not so hard to fly. But when you are inexperienced AND the aircraft trim is bad, you will have problems - just look at the huge number of posts I made about crashing before I found Yokine. |

Gday Stretch, the only clubs I know of fly out at Whiteman Park.
Too far for me. I tend to head down to the local park, so long as there aren't too many people there. I have learnt on a Super Cub, great plane and easy to stick back together!! I have only just graduated to a T-28 Trojan. Its brilliant. Turns on rails and heaps more pwer than the Cub. Let me know how the Slow Stick turns out. Cheers, Toddy |

Hi Toddy, I just graduated from Super Cub to Trojan too....and I love it. I actually find it easier to fly than the Cub due to the greater power and the fact it responds to inputs to turn more quickly (due to ailerons).
