Default Misunderstood quotes/sayings

Ok, I was wandering how many people have misworded/misunderstood a quote only to find out later they have been saying it wrong. I'll start...

For years my dad said a quote and I was using it but with the wrong word(s). So here it goes...

I thought it was "I'll be sh#tting in tall cotton"..
Later to find out it was "I'll be sitting in tall cotton"

It made sense to me in that cotton would be soft on the butt (well not in reality but the association with cotton being soft)
After I realized I had been saying it wrong I laughed at myself.

a super famous one that is always misquoted is Neil Armstrong's "small step for man" which was actually "small step for A man" but a radio hit or something wiped out the "A" and it's been misquoted since...

Just call me X! (or Gary works, too.)
Another signature landing! Somebody help me find all the pieces...

One that bugs me is when people say "I could care less" when they are trying to say they don't care. If you could care less, then you must care some to begin with. The proper saying is " I couldn't care less".

And probably most people couldn't care less about how it's said.

How about "For all intensive purposes" which should be "For all intents and purposes"

OK and what about going to buy a hot water heater? If the water is hot, why are you heating it? It's just a water heater.

One that bugs me a lot is actually just a word, not a phrase, and that word is "supposedly". Most people pronounce it "supposably".

My wife still does that. However, I value my life, so I won't be correcting her!

Flammable - means it is combustible
Nonflammable - means it is not combustible
Inflammable - means it is combustible
Noninflammable - means it is not combustible

Why don't they just say "burns" or "Doesn't burn"?

Down here in the south, someone might say

"aint no nevermind no-how"

and someone else would understand what they meant

Then there is the case where people say "You are ignorant" when they mean the person is rude.
