Default 2nd Annual; Electrics over Tidewater - 29 September

Electrics over Tidewater is a go!

Come out and join us for our second annual Electric-Fly in. Last year was a huge success and we are looking to have an even bigger and better event this year. Details are being worked but the main thing is to come out and fly and have a great time.

We have a beautiful facility, paved asphalt runway with a nice grass area in front of it for the belly landers and such.

Date: 29 September 2007

Time: Field will open around 8 am and flying will begin at 9:30 am after a quick pilot meeting.

Where: Newport News Park R/C Club, Newport News Virginia

Open flying all day except for a little foamy combat if anyone is up to it!

AMA Membership required

To locate our flying field, the following instructions may help:

From I-64 Westbound; Proceed to next exit past Jefferson Ave, the Ft Eustis Blvd Exit. This exits onto Jefferson. Turn left on Jefferson and then a right at the light (only about 100 yards). This will be marked "to Yorktown". Proceed 1.5 miles to the first right turn past the York county line which is Richneck Road, or Rt 636. Then turn left just past the railroad track.

From I-64 Eastbound; Take Ft Eustis Blvd East. This will indicate "To YORKTOWN". Go 1.5 miles and turn right onto Rt. 636 (Richneck Road). Turn left onto dirt road just past the railroad tracks. WELCOME!

From Route 17: Go West on Ft Eustis Blvd 1.7 miles and turn left onto Rt. 636 (Richneck Road). Take the dirt road to the left just past the Railroad track. WELCOME!

More Details to follow so stay tuned

Current list of Sponsors providing items for the raffle

Thanks Bill. I may be calling you for some tips on how to run the thing!

I think it will be another great time. Hopefully the weather will be as good as it was last year.

Uhhh FM.... that was a joke for Bill. I think We'll be able to figure it out ok.

We don't all have the luxury of being a couple hours away from Hodges.

This will be a great event and a nice drive for folks from the Mid Atlantinc area.

I am not happy that I didn't go, I just know that it wouldn't be much better if I had gone.

I didn't have a foamy to fly but tossed the HyperFlea in the mix for a moment or two. It was a blast though and there were plenty of spectators. Bill's got decimated by That Rat

If the creek don't rise, we'll be there!

With, hopefully - "E-Rotica" (my OD 54" pattern bird), Sig 1/6th clipwing Cub, "Sportex", my new cross between a Lazy Bee, my old low wing sling-around and a DH Tiger Moth, and maybe even - SHOCK! HORROR! my BARFStik.

I might even bring something real slow, in case it's flat calm

Great to hear this one's turning into a regular event. Run it like last year - lots of flying time, good food, a raffle and few hold-ups for demos, etc. What else do we need?

Though the two short free for all combat sessions were fun ...

Regards

Dereck

Great Dereck! Look forward to seeing you again.

I don't plan on doing anything different than last year as far as the schedule goes. It was such a blast last year I just don't see any reason to change that!

I'll have the big Waco there for all to gawk over. Some of these guys are still scheming to steal her out from under me so I'll really have to be on guard!

Get the word out up in your neck of the woods for us. I'll have a flyer ready to post in a day or two.

This is something I figured out with Weather.gov...

Using this link, it has a latitude/longitude in it...

http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick...42159&site=lot

You are looking for this part:

&textField1=42.144283&textField2=-88.042159

The first one is the latitude, the second the longitude. Get this from Google maps. Now you have a custom forecast for your flying field.

I'll be their again with my Quaker, Trex 600 and the Super Fly I won in the raffle last year. Only thing I would change from last year would be to set up a grill and cook some burgers and dogs.
