Default Hydro Foam

Beware!
There are several Hydro Foam kits out there now!
I made the mistake of buying one from a place called Trend Times.
Very cheaply done,a bad kit & not nearly worth the money.

Hey anyone see the wannabee version in the Jan issue of Backyard Flyer.
Man Red's kits just put that version to shame. UGLY

Default Great Hydro Foam Flyer Information

Hello Everyone!!! I recently decided to buy one of these fantastic crafts, I must admit I became a little confused when I started to search around for more information. I found many different named copies on the market and decided to continue research until I was sure I found the Right Stuff...I will now order from Red's Hangar One. www.redshangarone
I found another good link to help with this decision:
www.rchydroflyer.com Go to the green colored Hydroflyer blog,I really liked this site, good information it really made my decision process a lot easier.
OK for now I hope this information helps out...
Happy Flying!!!

i sent this to ebay:

this seller is using the video of another company, redshangerone.com in thier item(s) as listed 6010188513, 6011320670 here is the link to the fake
http://cgi.ebay.com/HYDROFLYER-HYDRO...QQcmdZViewItem
here is the link to the real one
http://www.redshangarone.com/miss.html
watch the fake then video 1 at red's, i don't know if there is a policy about this but it is very misleading and some people on some r/c forums have bought "HYDROFLYER" thinking it was red's and are very dissapionted with it.

It's called desceptive advertising, it's decieving the potential buyers.
I believe is is unlawful. If not, it's just plain dishonest.
I e-mailed the seller and contacted ebay too.

MINE ARRRIVED TODAY (Nov. 7)! Ordered 2 on Oct. 11, both (my boss wants one too) arrived via USPS Priority Mail.
Must leave for work now (darned 2nd shift), so little to say now except that I noticed some Dubro hardware packages were include: nice touch.
Now I need to decide finish scheme: is there a full scale Killians boat? Or what about Viagra? Or Hooter's? Or, is Jimmy Buffett into these boats, maybe a parrott head boat?

Hi Everyone, My first post here on Watt Flyer. I flew three flights my Miss Hangar One today at our KRC flying field. Everyone out there couldn't believe this thing could fly. Every time someone new arrived everyone wanted me to show them how it could fly. I've been having great fun with it. Mine ready to fly weighs 11.1 oz with a three cell 9oomah lipo. I'd share a picture but don't know how to transfer one to the post. I thought I had a pic to add but an error came up saying my file was larger than allowed.

onetankjcs, there is a free picture reducer that I use on my computer at work and when I get there tomorrow I'll post the link. It's super easy to use and the best part is it's free.

Call me stupid if you will, but what is a "KRC" flying field? The "RC" part probably stands for radio control, but can't figure out what the "K" is for.

Construction of bottom side is nearly completed on mine, so here are some thoughts so far:

1): Like Jim Young (who did the E-Zone review), I am using Gorrila Glue for the most part. For those of you that are not familiar with it, it is highly touted (by it's distributers) as being the world's greatest glue, and is available at hardware stores. That said, I puchased a bottle about 6 months ago (LONG before I even considered building a HydroFoam), and experimented with it. My observations were that altho I am not convinced that it is the best in many other applications (such as gluing wood), it did appear to have some qualities which would seem to make it superior for gluing foam to foam (or foam to something else). Mainly, because if you mist it with water (as Jim Young did & instructions recommend), it turns into a gap filling foam. When fully cured, it resembles a weld, as it builds itself up around the parts being glued together.
So the end result is a water tight joint (no need to go back and seal it), which is probably lighter than gap filling CA, and has more gap filling area to 'grab' the parts and hold them together. As Jim stated, it does take some time to cure tho: best to tape things together and let it set for several hours.

2): Instructions state that the rear of the sponsoons should be left open, to allow water drainage. This struck me as odd, since I feel the the front portion/ chamber of the sponsoons is more likely to incur damage which could lead to leakage, than the rear portions, but the front parts are sealed. As mine will have the capability of backing up, I decided to close/ seal the rear chamber as well. All that this mod required was the addition of 2 rectangular pieces (1 for each side), cut from scap, approx 29/32" x 1 1/2", and glued to the the rear of the sponsoons.

Progressing slowly but steadily, I have added the 2 fuselage bulkeads, then the sides. Everything fit perfectly up until then: it appears that the calculations and/ or laser cuts were off slightly (3mm?) on the rear bulkhead as the tabs did not line up with the fuselage sides. Specifically, the slot on the 'wing' for the rear bulkhead should have been 3 mm farther forward (I hope "harrymc" and "no stick" don't burn me for this negative comment). Anyone else encounter this?

Before I attached the sides, I decided on another mod: I removed 1/2" from the fuselage side bottoms. Reasons:

1) Without this mod, there is much more room than needed for the elevon servos which are housed in there.

2) It gives it a better, more 'scale' look.

3) It will reduce the amount of surface area within the area of propwash, and therefor should improve performance and efficiency.

Hoping to have it completed by the end of this next weekend. 1st flight will probably be from snow (anyone done that yet?)

Kind Sir, this forum will cover glo to electric conversions but alas not, electric to glo. You might find the help you need over at RCUniverse. As far as the depron foam to balsa thing, ask away.
