Saw one of these demo'ed by a HK rep at our field recently. Clocked at 96mph, supposedly completely stock. I was most impressed by his 96mph 4 point rolls ~4 feet off the deck! I'm tempted, but it sure seems scary. These things could hurt someone! To paraphrase, with great speed comes great responsibility!

He must have added rudder control to his demo bird. The stock setup is only 3 channels.

Nope! I couldn't believe it myself, but I saw it with my own eyes. They were very fast 4 pointers!

I believe a true and fair speed pass doesn't involve any kind of dive. If you're just trying to reach a certain speed to please yourself, then have at it. I recently had a guy in another forum claim his stock Rare Bear was doing around 130mph when everyone else's RB only did around 110mph. Turns out it was in a dive, not a straight line pass. When everyone else is posting level speeds, it's like comparing apples to oranges.

Try a 5x5 or 5x4 apc prop, check your watts and amps, use a 80 amp turnigy plush esc if amp draw is to much with a 5" prop go to a 4.75 x 4.75 prop.

prop pitch speed with a 5 pitch prop is over 200mph with a 4 cell, but check the amps to be on the safe side, dont go over 80 amps, the motor is rated for 70 amps.

Should I leave the esc on default setting or programme it different? I have the 80 amp turnigy plush.

start out with the lowest timing first and see what the amps are, bump up the timing after testing with different props, leave the esc at default but check it with a programming card, also set the esc throttle end points with the transmitter. hope that helps, Chellie

Default setting throttle end points

some great info from Nigel

Quite a few ESC need to see the FULL range of throttle stick movement ... so for setting it up :

a) Switch on TX
b) Put trim all way DOWN
c) Put stick all way UP to max throttle

d) Plug in model battery pack
e) Listen for beep
f) Return Tx throttle stick to DOWN minimum throttle position.
g) Listen for confirmation beep

Power of both.

Now test ...

1) Switch on Tx
2) Put throttle trim to mid point
3) Throttle stick to idle position
4) Connect battery to model

Listen for beeps / music if enabled.

Try throttle ... you should have full range now.

If not ... reverse Tx throttle and try above set-up again ....

It's always good as well if you have a Throttle Cut or Hold you can activate when connecting model battery's ... but this will inhibit arming of motor till switched of.

Heeeyy, wait a minute... Is someone by the name of waytooslow allowed to join the 100mph club???

LOL! Good luck! I have to get my act together with the EF Phantom and join! My MPX Tucan may be a contender, too. But it's waiting to get finished after the XF5U...

Yep, I was there standing right next to WTS ! I swear it was doing 150, maybe more on the downwind. Seen enough of these now to know what 100+ is like.

It's a ploy to lull my victims. Actually it came from my motorcycle race days----- slow in fast out.

Wow my very first post on this forum. I have lurked long enough and decided to become part of the community. Here is a video of a 35" GWS Corsair with a mod or two. I do not know how fast it is as I have no real means of measuring speed. With a buddy and a stop watch (less than scientific but good enough for a red neck) it will cover a football field in under 1.3 seconds goal to goal. The plane is running a EF1 racing motor on 4s spinning a 9x9 prop.
