SHE'S DONE!!!!!!!!!!!
![]() :o![]() ![]() ![]() Nine months of scroung'in Parts & putt'in it off (busy) , she'll be maid'in'in This weekend, 28 OZ, 54" wingspan, two 1210-08's,two 18ESC's, two 3-cell 1000mAh-20c, only 28 solder-joints as I broke down and got some store-bought Y-conns, & Extentions for a change ( and I'm gett'in lazy) she almost half the poundage of my other twin the same size but then she's got 1/2 the power, ( the other twin has better that 200% power to weight ), She'll fly as good as the other chunckers I've done no doubt,, your bub, steve

Hey Steve ol' Buddy...
...Since you built it, it will fly and I'll wager that it'll fly very well. I placed an order last evening for lipos, servos and a lot of other small items that added up fast Anyway 10 minutes later I emailed Jeff to hold off till today so I could make sure that the main lipo I wanted was going to be the right one. I got a email from him just a few minutes ago telling me his wife's mother had just passed away so it'll be next week sometime before I can order what I need to finish up mine. I guess I could rob a couple of planes that are awaiting repairs but I sure hate doing that ya know.BTW, that 1st photo sure looked familiar or do you mark all of yours that way? You'll be glad to know that I decided to finish up several of the builds I have started before I start any new projects. The one you sent me was to be one of the next 2 I'd chosen to finish up. I got the new motors in for it several weeks ago and besides I need a Twin up and flying as I crashed my Twin Simple Stick due to a overlooked loosening motor mount screw :o . As I was about to land I had to "Goose" it to gain a little altitude to clear a temporary short fence around the parking lot I was trying to land in. When I "Goosed" it the right wing suddenly dropped as the rpms came up. At the time I didn't know it but the right motor had come off the stick mount but the mount itself was still on the stick. I had quickly countered but with only about 5 or 6' of altitude there just wasn't enough altitude to recover even though I'd already countered with left aileron, left rudder & some up elevator and not to mention cutting the throttle. My Body English didn't help any at all either so the way she hit the ground it cart wheeled into the fence. That boxed foamcore fuselage has been repaired so many times it was probably 60% epoxy & CA & 45% balsa sheeted over foam that was so flimsy...Well you get the picture. Those are some tough wings though as I've only had to repair then twice. Anyway I'll build another all balsa & ply fuselage for it some other time but for now I want to finish up our plane It's been too long on the back burner. Good luck with your maiden & don't keep us in suspense for long on the flight report ![]() Standing By, SJ |

Hello Mr. Cooper
![]() Love all the planes and lovin even more all the monsters (kiddos) running around flying them (and essential ground crew of course lol)! I am nearing the starting point to scratchbuilding a twin of some breed and had one question regarding power systems......I am concerned with having the motors being in sync. Do I NEED a rudder with a twin engine aircraft? I realize it would help trimming issues, but could it work if not used? Beyond that one hurdle, my stable would have multiple twins!! I love the sound they make working as a unit. What other issues would be addressing with a twin motored bird......as a whole (regarding the dual power plants)? thanks, --Ray |

Wrench66:: Hey old Bub! No probs at all fly'in with-out a rudder if you must , I had some motor cut-outs due to not use'in big enough wire on my ESC extensions,I really needed my rudders to "crab her back" but that was My Bad, Then I found fly'in 5 servos with-out a UBEC's a bad idea(thanks Ms Chellie!) but inbetween gett'in the UBEC put in I flew with-out the rudder& steer'in servos and she did great even no-counter rotate'in props (Which work fine as well,) The ESC will take-care of the sync'in the out'ie's and I would'nt worry at all about it one bit, My new "left-overs" twin does have couters but sence I ain't ROG with it yet I haven't noted the lack-o-tourque'in left on her yet , By the way,,, If your not use'in UBEC,You must cut one of the red wires from ONE of you ESC's go'in to the RX as they'll trip each other up ( If your use'in a UBEC you need to cut BOTH)and YES THEY SOUND AWSOME!!!! your bub, steve

Ah ha, thanks for the reply Steve-bub
heheI was worried for nothing then huh? OK. I did hook everything up (RX, two identical ESC's with two identical 2822 emax's) but noticed one motor would start sooner and cutback off later than it's mate. Granted this was during low throttle conditions and all other times they seemed to be in sync, but I wondered about ROG'n and during landing at light throttle.......any concerns?? A side note is that I did not cut any of the ESC RX wires yet. thanks again! Ray |

Hi ya bub,
I finally finished and maidened my new AC-47 replica ![]() She runs two Turnigy 8a outrunners on a single Zippy 3s 1000mah battery. At 48in WS and auw of 25oz, she flys very well with zero bad habits. Thanks to all your great advise and cool photos of your twins, I was motivated to press on and build the plane I had thought of soooooo many times through out the last year or so since I started flying RC. This plane has it's origin in a profile, indoor model from RCG. I took it upon myself to build the full fuse and airfoiled FFF wing using just the side view and the wing dimensions. There's a video of it making it's debut at our field here http://www.wattflyer.com/forums/show...2#vid-2b805b1c It's entered into the scratchbuild contest on WF as well....wish me luck! all the best, Ray |

Here's the beginning of my first project. I was considering using the innards from my yellow bee for power, but I think she's puttin' on a little too much weight for that. Getting ready to hinge the HS & cut some ailerons next. going to use floppy disc material for hinges, but not too sure how to cut slots in HS & elevator.

Thanks. Still have a lot of puzzles to work out. You have obviously played around with a HF Yellow Bee. Do you think those motors would fly this plane?
