Default Cessna 182 RTF

Hey folks - I'm going to buy my second aircraft, and I'm looking at the Cessna model 4-channel. My last plane was a firebird XL, 2 channel, but I felt I didn't have enough control of the plane, so going for one that has it all.

What I ask is, what is the difference (apart from price) between this model

and this model

http://www.dg-rc-estores.com/catalog...oducts_id/1098

Any help is much appreciated

You will get many different opponions on which to choose. The plane on both is the same. The difference is the brushless vs the brushed motor. I have been flying for three years and have never found the need for a brushless motor. Yes brushless are faster, more efficient and less noisey. But ask your self this before you make your choice. For the extra money spent:

Do you need to go faster? I have found that adding a lipo to my brushed setups give me the power boost I wanted.

How efficient do I need to be? Again going from Nimah batteries to lipo batteries doubled an sometimes trippled me flight times depending on how aggressive I flew.

Is a quiet plane really a benefit? I like to hear my planes. They dont have to be loud but I do like the sound of a plane flying by. I have read posts where other R/C ers have complained that their brushless set ups were too quiet.

I know that I am probably not in the majority here. This is ONLY MY OPPONION but sometimes doing a brushless conversion on a plane or spending the extra money on a brushless motor does not out weigh the benefits.

Good Luck

Hi MearsM,

The Cessna is not a good choice for you in either form. Its a fragile plane that will have you spending a lot of time and money making repairs, rather than flying. Get the HobbyZone SuperCub and learn how to fly, then go for a good intermediate plane like the T-28 Trojan or the Multiplex MiniMagistar (Minimag). If you don't like the SC for some reason, look at the Multiplex EasyStar or the HobbyZone Aerobird3.

Ok thanks for the info folks. After some research I am going to go with the supercub. It looks quite robust and has that ACT, which will help at first. Thanks for the help.

The Super Cub is an awsome plane. I was given one as a gift about 3 months ago and it is my favorite plane out of my 5 to fly.
If you do indeed choose this plane there are many mods you can do to make it grow with you. Currently I have the stock Cub with a lipo battery mod and bigger wheels so it can take off in the grass.

One warning though, you will find that the "ACT" can make it more difficult to fly. It will often take control of the plane when you don want it to and if you are not "2 mistakes" high you will wreck. I suggest you keep the Act turned off. Most of the people here will agree with me.

Good Luck
