Made some adjustments - decided to go with the HobbyLobby 400XT and an overkill Align 35-amp ESC with a TP 910mAh 3S LiPo. GWS 9x7 slow flyer prop. Servos are cheapy TowerPros I got from Deal Extreme when they were selling for $3.50. 5MM carbon fiber tube runs almost the entire length of the fuse on the underside, standard pine stik for the homemade motor mount, tail reinforced laterally with 2 pine dowels and gorilla glue. LOTS of Gorilla Glue The wings have a single carbon spar dead center running from tip to root. Melted the channels with an old soldering gun, ran a bead of Gorilla glue, and taped it over with Uber-strong bidirectional fiber tape. Unfinished paint is Tamiya For Plastics, with an overcoast of MinWax Polycrylic (sprayed on in glops and sponge-brushed out even). Build took me all of one day (once I got the design down lol) MkII got the CoG dead on. Took it out for a maiden this evening, got 2 batteries worth of flights in. Jumps out of your hand, flies like its on rails! I had a blast with it. It does great loops, but the wing flex is disconcerting . Did a fakey hammerhead and one of the neighbor ladies watching gasped as I pulled it out LOW Gotta get my hat cam together so I can take some footage! Some pics of MKII, "ThermaChili" Boy am I gonna have some fun with this! |

Holy macarolly! What a great video and awesome flying Joshua.
I liked the sound track- "Red Sky" by The Big Wu (like from the movie "Joe versus the Volcano"?!). Good stuff. Nice plane. SteveCooper should be jealous. Just kidding Steve.![]()

![]() Another tip of the hat to Flatulator... I know he wasn't the first person to do the hatcam thing, but he's the one who inspired mine! Apparently planes aren't the only thing you can build with pink foam!

![]() I'm almost finished covering my boomer. I think it needs some more yellow somewhere, but I can't decide where to put it. Maybe some yellow scallops on the elevator to match the ones on the wing? Should I add some yellow to the nose? I don't want to go overboard with this. What do you think? |

Well, the good news is: its just a flat short in the motor leads. The insulation was the source of the smoke. I might be able to resurrect this poor motor! (I've had it open at least 4 times to straighten the shaft and clean out dirt lol)

All the same, I think when I go to the LHS tomorrow I am gonna buy a new motor, something a tad hotter, perhaps in the 1000-1100kv range. And props. LOTS of props lol I'm still up because I'm putting together a parts list so I can build TC Mk2 a brother.
