Thumbs up DW Foamies BAF Yak

Hey all... Been searhing here to see if anyone is flying the big DW Foamies line, the BAF Series of foamy airplanes. BAF is Big-Ass-Foamy, and it's a fitting name. These monsterous birds are AMAZING. With a wingspan of 55-1/2 inches, these birds blow my mind. They fly with perfect grace and presence. Smooth, yet totally 3D capable. The balance of size and well refined design give you an aircraft that flys like a big gasser, slow enough for the park-flyer and worthy of the radical 3D master, all in one.

I had a Multiplex AcroMaster... not very happy with it as it was a heavy, fast and not forgiving. I was hoping for a nice, durable 3D learning platform, but it was a dissapointment for a pilot of moderate skills like myself. Even in the hands of excellent 3D pilots, it wasn't great. I went searching for a better place to transplant all this expensive gear, and I found the BAF Yak.

There is a lot of material out there on these beasts, and I have a thread HERE for my build. This is truly an amazing aircraft, and if you have the equipment for 400-600 watt power, waiting for the right home, I think this is it!

The wings are removable (bolt-on). The hinges use CF torque-rods, and the construction is really well thought-out. It's made from 9mm Depron, tough and easy to build. My setup is making 538 Watts on an AXI 2820/12, 3S 3200 mAH 20C and 3S 2200 mAH 25C Lipos, Phoenix 45 (I am upgrading to a 60 amps soon), APC 13x4.7SF, 4x HS-81-MG, Burg 7P Rx.

You gotta try one of these big-boys... what a blast. I have 9 flights so far, and this thing makes me look good!

I've seen the videos and they look to fly awesome.

I stole the hinge idea for use in my big foamy Yak - BUFY. It works fantastically well.

Got any links to some of the videos?

I think I need a signature.
