It's time to start this thread going again.
The Tulsa Unclub Combat Squad, T.U.C.S.? Tulsa Unclub Flying fighters. T.U.F.F.? Whatever. We are officially switching to the Crash Test hobby Assassin Wing. It's almost indestructible. No more building every week. Our set up the Assassin wing from Crash Test Hobby, $49. I ordered mine today. From Heads up hobby, the Zoom 400 motor $17, Hurc 40amp esc$20, 2-tp mg 90 servo $9ea., and a 6x4 prop. Scott said the 6x3 prop works best, but they were out. This is the set up that David is flying, and his plane fly's great. This is what I've ordered. From my best guess, we will have 6 to 8 flying if they all get built, and show up at the Unclub. I want to play some of the games that they have on the Crash Test website. Like the can on the dowel rod, the limbo, and the Fox and Hound Combat. |

I have just finished test flying a assassain yesterday with the temps. around 38 with winds around 15-2mph. I cut the cores out of white 2 inch foam I got from Lowes and kept the orginal epp kit back for a sample. I also was running a 8-4 gws hd prop,2804-21 our combat motor of choice and a 3cell-1300 battery pack.We flew 4 packs with the winding contions and I was surprize how well it flew. Also got a good 9 minutes flight with each pack. It also went in from about 40 feet a couple of times with no damage. Hope to get it out with no ind sometime soon.

So Buzz, is the whole muncie group going to switch to the Assassin?
The only draw back I can see, is that it might be a little harder to hit each other at the higher speeds, and a little slower turning. I originally wanted to go with the swift so we would have a little slower plane, but 4 guys, already had the Assassins. It's seems to be a great flying plane, and can definitely take a lot of abuse. |

The Delta was running a 2 cell packnot sure what prop. The assassin was running a 3 cell pack with a 8-4 prop.my assassin came out at 15 oz. ready to fly. I could out turn him and also my speed didn't drop off any what so ever. My assassin with this setup likes to fly from 1/2 to wide open. Below 1/2 stick it would want to drop on a turn. We have a couple emax motors coming and I'm building another one to see how it works out. As far as everyone changing over to a different plane time will tell. The assassin will take a better hit and moe abuse than the Deltas we have been flying and also will out fly them.like you said they fly pretty fast.I'll take a couple of pictures of my stick mount I used.

I can't wait either. Hope to have mine together by Sat, if it gets here in time.
From My best count we have about 6 pilots who have, or are planning on building the Assassin. Scott David Kendall Donnie Skip Brett Who else has an Assassin, or is planning on building one? Everyone at the Unclub needs one. This would be fun. http://vimeo.com/4713368 |

40 at once would be cool. I like the limbo video it really shows how tough this airplane is.
Still can't come up with an acronym that makes any sense I'm thinking WFOMDUFCC wide frekin open maximum destruction unlimited full contact combat. Keep them light and not tail heavy. |

Assassins, Awesome!
Great combat Saturday! Everyone took at least one hit, and the only damage, was a broken prop. The Assassin was a good choice. I think more people will join us knowing that the Assassin is bullit proof, and that they don't have to re-build every time they get hit. I think Barry will get one, Hey Barry, I'll build it for you for $50 bucks. ![]() Here is a pic of mine. |

This past Saturday, we had 6 Assassins in combat. 4 or 5 rounds of full combat. We had some good hits. We all did the limbo thing with the goal post. Tried a new combat game where one person was the target, the target(me) flew real slow in a level pattern, and the others tried to hit me. I only got bumped a few times, but had a few good hits of the other planes trying to hit me.
All the Assassins were still flying at the end of all this. Love this plane. If you don't own an Assassin, get one now! It will be one of your favorite planes. |

Good combat today. Here are some pics of our planes. Scott was fixing tornado damage in Branson, so we didn't have our target plane.

Brian,
We have found the zoom may not be the best motor for the job. The lower kv sport 400 with an 8x6 prop and 1300 mah battery is a nice setup. I am running a sunny sky 2208 1250 kv motor and like it. any light 400 size with a kv of around 1000 will be perfect getting much better flight times and not losing any performance. we hope you get one flying we are having a blast we should have nead a dozen flying before long. |

Ordered my Assassin. I am going with the CF2812 that CTH recommends due to limited funds. I ordered the motor, ESC and a battery from Value Hobby.

Just a word of encouragement for Sonex. IMO you made a wise choice. The Utah bunch have had many years to fine tune their design and ,thank their generosity, have shared that wealth of info w/ the rest of us. While it is very gratifying to design & develop a model and event, it's sometimes also nice to start out at the TOP of the learning curve!
