I just looked at the OCC website and there is a mens soccer tournament there that ends on Saturday. I don't know if they use the soccer field that is adjacent to the area we were flying in the other day, hopefully not. If they do use it, we could always go to the park across the street.

I left a message for the guy to call me about the permit. If Saturday is full, would you guys be OK for Sunday the 9th, or would you rather just move over to Landreth Park?

I think either day will work for me. Would prefer Saturday but should be able to make Sunday if needed. I don't think they would be playing soccer in the field that we were flying on at OCC. There might be some folks parked along that street or just on the edge of the field but I thought there was plenty of room to work around them.

I talked to the "Man" at OCC. Saturday is out because of a national soccer competition. Sunday would be fine. Let me know what you guys want to do.

Tom,
Either day is still good with me. Do you think we can all "fit" into that area at the park across the street from OCC? It was the open area next to the railroad track and west of bridge at Main Street. Greg |

Hey Greg,
I think there's also a pretty large open space in Landreth park as well. I'm going to go ahead and pick up a permit for Sunday since it's free and also drive over to the park and check it out at noon today. If there's plenty of room at the park we can do it there too. I don't know who's land that is across from the park so I can't say if we can use it or not. I would also like to get away from the road if possible. We might be able to use the high school practice field at Webb City as well. I think all the youth football is done for the year now. |

Nice job Genetics. Is that a printed paper finish or did you paint it?

Well, fellas, here is my first attempt at a FFF combat profile foamie. I wanted to post some pics for James to look over and make sure I am doing ok; anyone else have suggestions or comments, please feel free, I can use all the help I can get.
I've got the two fuse sections mocked up, ready for epoxy. I refuse to use that dang hot glue. It always sets up before I am ready. I may try Gorilla Glue on a future build. The foamboard cutter I found at Michaels (I think), and makes great smooth 45degree bevel cuts for hinges. Lay it against a straightedge, run it the length of the control surface, and a smooth, even bevel in one swipe. (AS long as you keep it against the straightedge - ask me how I know.... )

Looks good Kev, everything seems to be the way it should. If you're going to be building and flying profile foamies you're going to have to get over your fear of hot glue
![]() . HG is your friend .Genetics - I'm not sure of a specific thread for putting the guts in but I can give you some pointers for mounting gear to a scratchbuilt foamie. I always start by mounting the motor first and then temporarily taping the battery at the CG. Then being aware of how you are going to run your wires (and length of the wires) try to mount everything so that you won't need extra weight to keep it balanced. For the esc, rx, and battery velcro works great. I use hot glue to hold the servos in. Here's some pics. |

James,
I have got the horizontal fuse all glued up. How wide is the elevator? I see a "v" marked on the bottom, how far up from the point of the v should I cut? Also, is it a straight cut? The instructions show them not cut straight across, and I cant remember how yours are. Using anything creative for control horns? |
