I've been meaning to post these here for a while, but better late than never!
![]() My StevePhoon-3D Balsa Fuselage with Typhoon 3D Wings and Tail, Motor - PowerUp 400 SloFly. ESC - PowerUp 20 Amp Servos - 2 9gm SG90e (the really cheap ones!) The original Aileron servos are also still in use. Flys great with a 1300 mAh 3s battery and a APC 10x4.7 SF prop. It's quite a bit lighter than the stock Typhoon with this setup. Pocket Rocket scratch build from plans from pd1. Motor - EMax CF2822 ESC - Mag8 TowerPro 18 Amp Servos - 2 SG50 5 gm for Tail 1 SG90e for ailerons. I was worried about how tight this motor felt, but it's been great. Very efficient with a GWS8040 prop and a 1000mAh 3s battery. It never spins as free while at rest as comparied to my other motors. Maybe the magnets are actually better?? Steve ![]() |

I've actually used that exact set up (except for a different ESC) on a Tower Trainer, and it flew great. The only problem is prop clearance. You have to mount the motor a little high, and even then you won't be able to take off from grass unless it's cut quite short. You might consider using a 4S 3200 25C Lipo and a TP 11x5.5 prop, and you will have plenty of prop clearance, and even better performance.

Just about finished a vintage (1974) Ace 1/2A Pacer I found on RCU. Jeff came thru again with help on the motor size/type. 2830-11 installed.
Keep trying to find excuses to place an order with Jeff. Just can't help myself!!! |

trmcrft,
That's looking very nice! I have the 2830-11 in my MM Eva and it's a great motor. It's been through two flying seasons with zero issues. I'm using a PowerUp 20 Amp ESC and a GWS EP9050 prop as recommended by Jeff. It's a good setup with the EVA. It's actually a little too fast for that plane. I ripped off an aileron once because of high speed flutter. Steve |

Tested the Pacer setup Jeff suggested.
175W, 15A, 1800mah 25C lipo, 9 x 6 APC prop. Pacer will weigh 20-22oz AUW. Should be ballistic! |

I hate to post it, cuz it's not Jeff's fault at all.
