strung me along and never shipped it
Had the police go to his house
he told them he would ship it
and still never did
so do not buy from Rebec Aka VW63

I check his trader rating and seemed OK
but had a history under another name

Seen this on RCG a while back.You need to pursue this,fraud is a serious offense.You can count on the RC community to try and help you out.I am sure something can be done to help out.

Sorry to hear of this type of thing happening amongst modelers and for that matter, I hate that it happens at all.
You mentioned that this person has a history under another name... So what would that name be and at which site(s)? Have you followed up with the PD (Cops) in his home town or can they do anything?
Keep us informed as to what happens and whether you ever do get your heli and what shape it's in if/when you get it.

Make All of your purchases with PayPal, just about anyone can get a paypal account, that way your protected from fraud, you can file a claim, and get your money back, if someone does not want to use PayPal, then I see RED Flags going up, and wont buy from that person, just my 2 cents worth, Take care, Chellie

Yes I have a paypal account and I try to do all with paypal
This one said they did not have one and I had been in contact with him before and he did have a good trader rating... But I will not make the same mistake twice

This isn't always true.

If the buyer paid with funds from their account and paypal tries to recover the funds only to find the seller's account empty the buyer gets nothing.

Just paying with paypal does not ensure you will get your money back if ripped off.

I had a issue with a seller on Ebay, this person bought items from a Dist. the seller listed the item, but the dist never delivered to the seller, i paid with paypal, the seller tried to string me along, I filed a claim, the sellers account went into a neg. But i still got my money back, Thank goodness i won that time, Paypal is not 100% perfect, but it cheap insurance, So far with disputes with sellers that have tried to rip me off, I have always gotten my money back, and i have had to file a few claims, I am Happy using Paypal, its Good protection, maybe not 100% perfect, but for me Paypal has come through, Just My 2 cents worth, Take Care, Chellie

BTW, Paypal is a joke. The only protection you have in real life is to buy from those who are trustworthy. There are many ways to have a good indication of this. I would love to write a sticky on the topic of "discernment" of sellers.

it is, but I haven't been there to look, you are asking the wrong person...

If you still want to try and resolve this, work with the Staff at RCG (RC Groups) If it all happened over there they should work with you on it.

If you have his name/address from when you had the cops sent out to him... then there's really nothing more RCG can give you...

Best to hire some local thugs...(just kidding)

It'll take leg work on your part to pursue him... I'd try calling the cops 1 more time, reminding them that he said he'd ship it, and didn't... and seeing if they have any idea's.... if nothing else... tell them you'd like to pursue a fraud case against him... even if your not actually willing to go there to be in court... the threat of going to jail might get him to send it... at this point it's been my experiance that the cops will try to tell you its a civil matter, and they won't do anything... this is where you will have to tell them you want that in writing (in a report) saying that they won't do anything... make sure they know that its a Mail fraud case, which may be a felony... also if you've got anything in writing and you sent the check by usps, call the postmaster (federal crimes) and repeat the mail fraud stuff....
