Hi All,
Wanting to create my own aerobatic plane design, I stroked alot of ideas from planes I like in that type of flying. As I progress in flight, and learn to do more then just circles in the sky. I wanted to attempt my own design and do alittle test and learn. My only experience with aerobatic style planes is my first foam 6mm build of a leadfeather Yak55. That whole aerobatic fly indoor stuff went out the door when I learn I was not going to fly inside...I needed space as a newbee. And the lite Yak55 was doing so hot outdoors. It was made for indoors at 9oz. Now that I'm comfortable with flight I would try it, but after learning outdoors..it would have to snow alot or blow like heck everyday before I ever went indoors. Nothing against it, just not my speed. Well just because I dont fly indoors, I do like to stunt around in the sky. So this is my prototype design...racer/aerobatic/slofly/geebee/combat plane. I wanted something laid back, something classy, and I dont see many tail cockpit planes. I mixed tons of R/C plane stuff in this plane, hoping to create a dancing speed angel. I chose a super duper loud color for my scheme actualy called emergency yellow. I still have more detail to add, like some more black, but my idea here was sight, and also because Im designing it to be a acrobat..I want to know top from bottom. I have lost more planes to sense of direction..or blindness lol, not sure which. I named the plane Concetto 30. Concetto is Italian for concept and the 30 is the wingspan. I'm using a 2409-12D as my power with 11.1 lipo. So far I just have my plane designed and built, and painted. Im adding electronics now. Before I show my build I wish to put it together and fly it...lol. Here is some snap shots of the plane awaiting the powerplant. The more I look at my finished Concetto 30, the more I think I want to bi plane this model, but I will see the flight of this one first. For some reason I think it would look very cool as a bi plane maybe? I'm not real sure on wing set up on bi planes...I will have to re-visit Chellies post. ![]() Let me know what you think...thanks |

Hello LipoPilot,
Perhaps your friend isn't familiar with aircraft designs from the 1930's. Several racing planes from that era had the long nose/rear cockpit look including the Gee Bees, the Keith Rider "R" series and others. http://www.airrace.com/1934NAR.htm http://www.airminded.net/mbspecial/mbspecial.html In fact, the entire period is immortalized as the "Golden Age" of aircraft design and led to advancements used on WWII aircraft. The rear cockpit position wasn't one of them, however, mainly because it blocked the forward vision of the pilot, particularly during take-off and landing. In any event, I like your design and hope it flys well! Ron |

Hi LipoPilot
I really like your design, and I think your friend doesn't know the beauty of classic lines. I put something similar together a couple of months ago, although I made mine out of balsa because I am old and wood is what I am use to. Mike |

Just so no one thinks comments from others bother me, my friend is a glider guy and asking a glider guy to like fat and chunky is impossible.
![]() Actually I realize everything I do will not be to the likings of everyone around me, or even those watching me. I guess thats what makes me Lipo Pilot so cool...I switch up my designs by the week. It helps me touch all the flying hearts. Well I woke this morning to a great pour down..so Concetto flight was not going down. As I sat and looked over my proto-type, I discovered in a short time I could try something new. So I did. My biplane Concetto 30 |

Thanks guys for the history info, the sites are awesome, I see a guy paid 400.00 to be the first passenger lol. 400.00 in that time, considering the ticket to cross the bay was only 5.00..was a years earnings, just amazing history thank god its preserved.
As far as your plane Mike, well amazing. As you know Im working to get diamentions from you so we can make her in foam. Very nice build and plane. Flight log Concetto 30...my weather is sucking, all the sudden we have thunderstorms and tornado warnings, one day its 70...next its 32. Welcome to Kansas Dorthy. Flight will persume when Mother Nature lets me. |

Well the UGLY!!!! Concetto 30 took to the sky today.
![]() I wish ugly was this sexy and easy to fly LoL Couple videos just fooling around, she flies pretty sweet in high winds and I will stiffen up the wings before her next flight. At 9.5 AUW this gem would be great indoor slow flyer, shes getting a rudder for sure. I didnt push it today because of wing flutter, but I can tell shes a sky master aerobatic sport plane. She just needs a better pilot then me. First Flight Second Flight Oh enjoy how I park it...LoL, the only ugly part about it all. Shes safe. Here is my overview on the planes flown today. |

Oh thats my buddy being a buddy...the Concetto 30 is fun to fly Im making a better built model as of now, I snapped the wings on this one showing off for my glider bud...LoL If you like a chunky little park ripper the Concetto is a slow or fast fly sport plane, with lots of cool control.
