![]() how heavy is just the shell of it? i got one with 1.2 kw motor setup, it could definetly benefit from trading the foam for some composite ![]() 13.5 oz, is that the complete shell, or only as it appears in the picture? |

as you see. the one missing rudder will be .5 Oz the rear canopy is .3 Oz and batt tray is .7 Oz. I think the empty weight will be around 19 Oz

very nice. a bit on the heavy side, but i guess thats not an issue with the kind of setup you are going to use anyway
![]() one beware though: at 1.2 kw, the moment from the propeller is so awful that it can easily throw the model on its back before you get up to control speed. even with full aileron the opposite way. mine was just on the limit with 6x4 propeller. tried 6.5 x 6.5, and the jet got thrown on the back and into the ground before i got steering speed on it. new funjet recieved and awaiting assembly. currently working on a contra rotating gearbox for it, build from a traxxas t-max differential unit :P |

its not much to see yet, as its not nearly finished. just a pile of parts.
anyway, its not that complicated once you got the differential. you just drill out the axle in one end, to put in an inner axle, that you fix to the gear on hte opposing side. the middle section thats ususally driving in a car, will be fixed here. now, when you put power on the gear on the one side, the gear on the other side will spin the opposing direction, with the inner axle still spinning same direction as the motor. |

b1bman - i have been considering scratch building a funjet myself. would you mind sharing the airfoil and amount of washout (if any) you used?

how did you do the vacuum forming? and how does your vacuum forming rig look? what plastic did you use?
i'm particulary interested in the vacuum forming rig. i googled for it, and its simple in small scale. but when the plates need to be bigger than what i can put in my oven, and i need the forming rig to be "2 sided", there be dragons. where do you put the vacuum pump for example, when both sides is obscured by the plastic sheets? |

heres a video of how I did the B1B
http://www.youtube.com/user/b1bman#p/u/34/z3LOEr77BqQ no oven needed if you use low temp epoxy I used a heat gun. the heat gun is not needed but it dose help. I dont use plaster any more to make the molds I now use fiberglass to make the molds. There is a guy on youtube that shows how to heres his link he has 90 videos http://www.youtube.com/user/hornitpi...17/JvsWL5Rg1H0 I use West Systems Epoxy and strechlon bagging http://www.westsystem.com/ss/ you can find every thing else here http://www.fibreglast.com/showproduc...plies-106.html try to find a used vacuum pump at a pawn shop or something I got mine for a 100.00 bucks it is a Robinair vacuum pump you can also fined them cheap at harbor fright I hope all this helps you let me know if you need more info |

i saw a funjet on youtube, it was 6s, 100a regulator, and 1700kv motor.
unfortunately, he didnt specify his setup in any more detail. particulary the batteries would been interesting to know more about. anyway, he claimed 290 km/h on his funjet. thats 179 mph. the way up to 200 mph is long. this was a foamie funjet, but since the carbon one is a near identical copy i assume, then it should preform near identical too, speedwise. i havent clocked mine yet (oh darn, that has taken some time. dont have a camera, so its a bit of clockwork that got to work out to do it. need a camera operator too) but i seriously doubt that its anywhere close to 200 mph. thats f5d domain. look at the superthin wings those cuties got. |

Neat stuff!,,nice work on the CF project. blistering roll rate on that thing.
Be careful,,carbon fiber is lethal, not to mention the fact of man hours. Keep the molds!,, You could have those 3D scanned, and milled out of whatever your hearts desire.
