Coop can you take some pics from the side? I have noticed that I will have up thrust now if I don't bend it. I guess you want it as close as you can get to 0 degrees?

Hey bro no problem I've been in about a half dozen or so now and they are very surprizing when the first one happens. Been gone to garage sales with the wife for a while, home now. But, getting ready to go to OneOk field for a USCellular customer appreciation event, don't know when I'll be back. Gonna change over to an Emax 2812 for the next flights and recheck the motor thrust line again even though it looks right. Also, remind me I need to get your vise back too you.

Sounds good Jack, hopefully that will line her out. I ordered a 2812 and some MG servos from Heads Up yesterday. I doubt they will be here this weekend, probably be next week sometime.

She flies a lot better, still got a real weird roll. Kind of cork screwy, ya know what I mean? I think it is caused by not enough down elevon, may still need to trim the leading edge of those so I can develop more down.

W00T the Assassin flies!! Maiden went great this morning, now I just need some targets to hit
.I left the motor mount alone and just mounted it the way it came. She came in a little heavy I think at 19.5 ounces but flies right so who cares. I will get some pics later on today. |

Just kidding, I must have been in a hurry and didn't do a very good job of putting it on...I will go over the whole plane again with my iron. I want to put an orange stripe on each wing and then get a "Smoke" decal, like my avatar, to put in the middle of the stripe. Maybe even pay to get the decals so they look good, I've never been very good at making them. I guess I have never used the right paper or image size. |

Looks mighty good James. Can hardly wait till I can get some servos for mine and get her back up. May have to stick in another set of plastic gears till I can order some mg's.

I noticed that from the build instructions, the wing span on the Assassin is 36", but from the website to order the core, it's listed at 34". Was there a change?

Wonder how much more power this motor has. Will find out soon. Also added two small winglets to the wing tips. Just want to see if it makes the plane track better. It seems to wiggle when it gets slow. Sometimes when I have done a number of rolls it starts to wiggle until it builds some speed back up. Looks good smokejohnson! The covering is a real bear to get it to stay stuck down. The EPP is slick so you and that iron are going to be good friends!!! Can't wait to hear how she goes. |

I just checked and mine is 36", actually 36.5" but I have no doubt that there is a 1/4" of tape and covering on each tip. Mine gets the waggles every now and then too. As long as it stays on track I am ok with it.
Pantseatflyer I see you are in NW Arkansas. If we can get a few others in the area flying Assassin's you will have to make it to Tulsa for some Uncivil War .

Thats the give and take side of the Assassin (dark side that is), The unstablaty of it being rudderless,
after awhile you'll use it to you advantage squrill'in away for income'in SwiftII's !!!!!! A SwiftII won the combat shoot-out at SEFF!!But only because my Assassin had a servo out and no time to fix it before the WAR started, ,HaHaaa! You an I GOT to get together sometime , bubsteve

Just heard bac from Lee.
Here's his response. "It is the same plane. International shipping was much less when we slightly decreased the wingspan so we trimmed the wing and changed the sweep slightly which decreased the wingspan. It improved the way the plane flies." Looking forward to ordering one |

The Assassin is slowly but surely becoming one of my favorite planes. I've had some really hard crashes and it still doesn't even have a mark on it
. This thing is crazy tough. I have noticed a few things...I have my throws maxed out and at speed this works out great. It has a quick roll rate with plenty of elevator authority. I also like it better with the expo turned down at high rates. I think I am somewhere around 25% expo on high rates. But... I have noticed when I perform multiple rolls it will get the wobbles and lose track. Not a big deal as long as you stay calm, let off the sticks, and let her build up speed again. She also wobbles after falling out of a vertical climb with a stall at the top. Again just ride her out until she builds up steam again. Also when I slow down to come in for a landing the throws get to be too much. It becomes easy to over control it and get the wobbles which usually results in a cart wheel landing . Soooo, I have low rates around 50% with lot's of expo, something in the neighborhood of 70%. Works much better for me.
