The price is still good.
It seems like these are going to be discontinued soon and Horizon is clearing out the on-hand stock. I went ahead bought one just in case!

Well gang, after almost 7 months I finally got around to assembling this nifty little ARF.
The kit is very solid and well thought out. Not any trouble at all putting it together. I just finished up control throws and balancing her yesterday and hope to do the maiden flight soon. I'll make sure and give a thorough flight report. Hopefully with good pictures! (and no crash pics)

Looks nice John. I love the PT-19. Good luck with the maiden. I'm sure it will be a great flyer.

Oh yeah,
The power train is an E-Flite 480 with a 40 amp ESC. The intended battery is a 2200mAh 3 cell Turnigy. Thanks, Tom! |

Flight Report:
The PT-19 is a solid flyer that really delivers! The initial walk-away impression is very high; 8 out of 10. My setup is on the over powered side. I have a 40 amp ESC pushing the juice to an E-flite 480. The propeller is a 11 x 7 APC. RCVR is an AR-6000. Battery is a 2150 mAh Rhino This is pretty much stupid-power. Scale take off and flight can be achieved with 50% throttle. Trimming was really a non issue. At cruising speed she needed 3 clicks left and two clicks down. Hard acceleration caused a very small amount of climb. The PT-19 is a great example of a low wing aileron trainer that crosses over into the sport category. She goes where you point her, and stays there until you give another input. The dihedral in the wings slows things down a bit but does doesn't provide much self correction. Landings are a non-issue. I chopped the throttle about halfway through the final turn. Then deadstick approach til about 20 feet off the deck. Then about 6 or 8 clicks back on the throttle to smooth the descent. After the flair keep the throttle on a bit with up elevator to keep the tail end planted and to achieve a neat, good roll out. The hard wired landing gear magnifies any bumps though. On two landings I tried to roll on the mains a bit for a scale look. both times I hit a bump, the planed popped about 15 inches in the air, the wings would balloon up/stall immediately and bounce back down. Any paved surface or a short grass runway should be great. But our community soccer field provides a good challenge! ![]() I really love this plane. I am looking forward to many more flights. Really worth the price of $69! |
